I have the electronic kitty litter scooper. As soon as the kitty does her thing and leaves the box, 10 sec later it rakes the litter into a cartridge. No touching of litter.
I can't remember, is this the one you adopted recently? Was that you, I may have the wrong person here. How old is the cat? If the cat was an outdoor cat, then you may have some issues with that.
You may also want to try wood chips or paper shreds instead of litter. Or if you aren't using the scoopable, maybe try that.?? just because the litter is expensive, it doesn't mean the cat will like it!

    Good luck!

One of my cats occasionally gets lazy and won't cover his poo. We have a "cleaner shrimp" cat who goes in and covers it up. I guess he doesn't like the smell either! So just get another cat!

we have 3 cats and 2 who don't always cover...i'm always thinking we can't have guests anymore HAHA

we've tried the littermaid (auto scooper) and that doesn't work when a cat doesn't cover because then, it just sticks on the rake :p

the one bad azz cat that doesn't cover is 17 lbs and we can't seem to get her to not get claustrophobic in a hooded area, so she doesn't go in if it's hooded...

sucks cuz we haven't been able to find a solution

I'm gonna be watching when you try this Melissa, cuz if it works for you...then maybe i'll try it

if you're cats are younger, they might be more adaptable...mine are 8 & 6 now, so not quite so young

Yeah, we just adopted him! He has a covered litter box now. When we first got him, he covered his poo. Now for some reason, he doesn't. He is actually up stairs in the guest room in time out right now, for biting me. He bit me all the way up the stairs with his claws out the whole time!!! TROUBLE MAKER!

He was an out door cat, but there is no way he could be one here, because we live very close to a big main road.

I'll keep you posted! We're going to wait until after the holidays, because we know we're going to have dh's family staying with us, and I don't want them to have to lift the litter tray out of the toilet.

I'm pretty sure i couldn't train sprite to use the toilet... she lifts her butt too high for it... i'd have to get a hole in the wall type of toilet for it to work with her

ok I will step up and be the weirdo...I had a cat who was toliet trained, but I will say it was her idea not mine!

she started my peeing in the sink, and we couldn't get her to stop. So we trained her to go in the toliet. At the time pets mart had a toliet traing seat (this was when I was in high school, and have never tried since, so I have no idea if they still have it) it was a special seat that you put on so they have room to balance and it has as "special" smell to attract them and encourage them to do their business.

It work ok, she peed all the time, and was 50/50 on the poo. But you had to make sure the seat was on all the time, or else my kitty would just pee in the sink! good luck!

I love our kitty that we have now, he hate litter boxes and WONT use them, so we don't have one, he goes outside to do his business. Of course I would love to have a sand box, but am a little worried, that it would become and outside litter box.
He wasn't sure he wanted a baby sister, but he loved her the moment he saw her.
