| My cat peed on my favorite jeans yesterday morning. He peed on my bad this morning (and consequently everything in the bag got wet). And now that I'm at work, I think I smell pee on my Bronco Jersey. He's not peeing on the furniture, just on my stuff. And it's not stuff left on the floor, no, it's out of the way. I pulled my jeans out and put them on my bed and when I got back to the bedroom tehy were wet. He must've done my jersey at the same time. My bag?? I dont' know about that. I'm so mad though. I can't believe him. |

| ...you might be pissed but you cat has more piss...hehe Sorry - is it pee or is your cat on heat and 'squirting'? Feeling a bit left out? I don't believe animals behave like this unless they are telling you something. |

| I think it's pee and I think he's marking me. Either that or he's lonely. He does it only in the morning when I'm getting ready for work. On the plus side, I got him using his scratching post today. Just had to wave his favorite toy in front of it a few times and then give him a treat when he attacked the post. Then a couple hours later he scratched at it all by himself. |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Don't cats only mark if they aren't "fixed"? I've had many cats in my life but none have ever peed on my stuff. When my previous cats were getting old, I think they peed on the rug, but nothing more. By the way, go to a pet store (PetSmart or Petco) and buy "Nature's Miracle". It is the only stuff to get out cat pee smell! Amanda |

| Washing the clothes got the pee smell out, or seemed to have. Male cats mark if they weren't fixed before "puberty." This cat wasn't fixed until he was about 6 months old. |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | is he used to his litter box? if he is, you might want to take him in and get him checked for urinary infection! our cat started doing that and we thought it was behavioral.. but then we found out it's not, that it's actually bacterial (and she'd had it for a long time)..now that she's had her second dose of antibiotics, we haven't seen a recurrence. to clean up the pee and get rid of the odor, we use nature's miracle..for our bags we'd use odorout to help get rid of the odor.. then use the nature's miracle on it.. then odorout again.. then coffee bags to make it smell a bit better.. but one things for sure - you can't mask the smell! other thing we found out from the vet is if you see him doing this - you absolutely have to disipline him.. put him in his crate for a while just like you would disipline a kid!

| Ick, sorry you have to deal with the that. Good luck resolving the problem! Hmm, I guess that is something I should be prepared to deal with if I get a cat. I'm contemplating getting a cat, but I certainly need to put more thought into it because it is a big commitment... |

| He hasn't done it since. But I'm keeping a better eye on him and where my stuff is. Eric thinks that he thought the laundry hamper was a litter box since I dug through it to find my jeans. That makes sense, but my bag was not remotely a litter box. He is fully litter box trained. I was thinking of going to the vet if his peeing didn't stop, but I haven't seen it since Friday morning, so I think it might be OK. But I'm certainly going to keep an eye on him. He's also trained on his scratching post now too. I played with his favorite mouse in front of his scratching post and then rewarded him when his claws stuck into the post and he pulled them out. I did that a few times. About 10 minutes later, I saw him using his scratching post on his own. And I gave him some more treats!!! I haven't seen him use the couch since (which was pretty rare anyway) and I've seen him use his scratching post a few more times. He's a good kitty. |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | don't just keep an eye on him.. .keep an eye around the apartment! even though you dont' see him doing it, he may be doing it in a place you can't "see".. that's when we found out our sprite was still having problems! she was peeing around the weight equipment but we didn't see it because the pee would soak into the cushy floor mats.. all we could tell was there was a smell - and after picking them up, we knew it'd been more than just once! it must have been at least a months worth - eeeewwww... those urinary tract infections can really wreak havoc! we haven't seen sprite doing it again since giving her her 2nd dose of antibiotics, but we're watching "around things" now to see if we see any signs.... then again, it may just be a new mommy marking thing - but typically, it's pretty rare that they continue to do that.. if he does, you may have to behavior train him which the vet can help out with! definately don't let it go on for too long though...
