| Admin/Owner ![]() | working off of Roz's comment in another thread, she said "I liked the fact that people gave me their seat (sometimes). Other than that, I preferred it if people stayed away from my belly!" do you think the stork parking is valid at commercial locations and do women really use them? Also - what types of help did you appreciate most and/or least while you were pregnant? |

| A lot of doctors will give you a handicap permit for your car during the last stages, when you're big as a house and can barely fit behind the wheel of your car. I wasn't offered one, but I didn't ask for one either. I could still get around pretty good even at the end, I just couldn't walk for super-long periods of time. My ankles & feet swelled up pretty bad, and I couldn't wear shoes for the last month. Which wasn't a problem since it was summer and I just lived in sandals. I didn't put on a pair of shoes from early June until the end of August! But back to the 'stork' parking, I saw a doctor's office with a few stork parking spots, and I thought that was a nice touch. For the most part we really don't have those up here, but it's a nice idea, very considerate. I never took public transportation while pregnant, so I don't have any stories of people offering me a seat. I'm in the suburbs, and we don't have easy access to busses/trains. To get to the commuter train station we have to drive there. Though the drive to the train station is far less than the drive to downtown Chicago! If I worked downtown, I'd take the Metra train everyday. The traffic on the expressways here is just nutty. As for what I appreciated most while pregnant, I'd have to say Ho-Hos. I loved Ho-Hos. Could have something to do with that 50 pounds I gained  . Oh, and air conditioning. I hate heat enough as it is, but I hated it even more while pregnant. My old car had air conditoning installed, but it hadn't worked in years. So I drove Bill's car everywhere during the summer. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | We would not be able to have expectant mom parking here lol. My sister says there are 3-4 of them at WalMart in FL. But in Utah-we are all pg so it would pretty much take 1/2 of the spots away from others! I really don't care, if you circle for a minute you can get a good spot. I too never rode any public transportation so I have never had any one give me their seat. I don't think I really have ever gotten any extra attention or help because of being pg, other then people asking questions. It's just so common here, it's not really anything special, I guess. |
