Question Traveling with Baby

For you experienced traveling moms, I have a question....

Mac and Jeremy and I are going to El Paso to visit my parents for 3-4 days. This will be Mac's first plane flight. Any suggestions from you experienced moms as to how to make the trip smooth? It would be nice if she would just or the whole way versus.

We will be traveling nonrev. So any tips for traveling in general would be good too, as we haven't ever done that.

We are bringing the stoller and her car seat combo and we are Fedexing her pack and play out there. I am thinking of keeping her on her same schedule as she keeps at home. (Since we switch time zones and El Paso is mountain time)... That will mean a 5:30 wake up time -- ugh!-- but I guess my body wont reailly know the difference right?

Mac has had a (cold) this past week but I think she is on the down slope of it. I am hoping we will be able to still go.

Any advice will be appreciated!!
