| Well, I take Mackenzie in tomorrow for her 2 month shots. Being in the medical field I have a very clinical mind, but having a "mommy heart". I will probably cry more than she will!! :cryeyesou Wish me luck! |

| Good luck! My son didn't cry for more than a minute or so and I figured if I was upset it might upset him more, so I sucked it up! He has had 2 surgeries on his ankle and got his tonsils out in March. That was bad!!!! He said he would have rather had the cast again than that! |

| It's not so bad, just don't look at the shots actually happening. I held their heads and kissed them and told them it was alright. They cried while it was happening, but once it was over and their clothes were back on and we were leaving the room it was like the change of scenery made them forget. Both have been back to normal by the time we make it back out in the parking lot and get in the carseat. |

| How did it go? I was thinking about this earlier. I remember my SIL saying how she used to think her son would think "how could my mother allow this to happen to me" (of course I'm talking when he was an infant). I recall thinking that my son would think, "wow, my mom is here to comfort me". But in reality, they are so young they don't have a clue what is going on, they don't blame you for it and they don't give you the credit for comforting them because they simply don't know!!! Now as they get older, usually you get do get the credit for being able to comfort them and then the ice cream or a treat may come into play! So, don't sweat and don't get upset or worried that your child will always remember you allowing them to feel pain...they won't!!!! Hope it ended up going well for you. Jan |

| Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We both survived. She ended up running a temp this afternoon, but looks like it is coming down now. She is pretty wiped out and has slept quite a bit more today. But I am sure she will be back at it tomorrow. Of course DH was on a trip and missed all the action. I told him I was surprised he couldn't hear her cries all the way in Newark!! Oh, well, he just touched down a few minutes ago. So time to enjoy DH and DD. ![]() |

| Glad to hear all went well. For future FYI...we have a fabulous pediatrician and his nurses are angels from heaven. One nurse always massaged DS's leg befor the injection and I would nurse him or whisper in his ear (if he wasn't hungry). He never made more than a tiny whimper. Of course now that he's a big two year old, he won't let the nurse touch his leg and he clings to me for dear life. His two year old appt. was the only time he ever cried after the shots and he was still over it by the time we left! ![]()

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | We've always given a dose of Tylenol before shot appts. They still cry but it helps with the after pains. And not to sound like a mean cold brat--but I've had shots in the mom muffin, 5 to be exact, on 2 different occasions. So I tend to not be to heart broken over shots in the leg. LOL. |
