Default How do you keep baby occupied?

My sister is having a little "hassle" problem with now, 4 month old Julia... she can't seem to sit still while they're at the grocery store...she just doesn't want to sit in her car seat anymore and my sister's a bit near the end of her rope with trying to figure out how to juggle her and do some grocery shopping...

I think she just needs to give baby something to keep her occupied and entertained...maybe even challenging right?

any ideas?

Yeah, Do the shopping without the baby!
LOL, just kidding, when you have to do something you just do it. I always took a few toys and only got what I really needed from the store. Then if I could get a sitter or hubby to watch kids I'd go. That age is sooo hard, but who am I kidding, I end up frazzled everytime I go with the kids now. They want to ride in those stupid cars which are so hard to maneuver, they get in and out to get "bucks" which is what my 3 yr old calls the coupons from the dispenser and want to eat bread right away from the bakery. Then getting out they want candy and since they are so low to the ground they can reach it. THEN they want a balloon and fight over the colors. URGHHH. I think it gets easier but not sure when.

Does she have a 'toy bar' for the carseat (I'm assuming she's still in a infant carrier carseat)? Mine was a lifesaver with Alex. He loved reaching up and batting at the toys, or just staring at the googly-eyes on one of the characters.

They're pretty cheap, $5.00-$15.00, and can be found at any toy store or BabiesRUs or Target.

They can't be used in a vehicle while it's in motion, but for having her in a store or something it can make for great entertainment.

Also you can buy cool toy-bar attachments that strap on to the trays of strollers that keep kids amused.

Toys are cool! I get as much of a kick out of the kids toys as they do!

Hi!

I always started my babies as new borns in the native American sling. it was a life savor!
I'm not sure if the little one would like it now unless she loves to be cuddled a lot. I used it on 4 out 5 of my children.

They are pricey but worth it! And always leaves your hands free to shop etc and baby is usually happy to be close and comforted.
Great for breast feeding too! As the child gets bigger there is more options to the sling instead of the cuddle hold and the foot ball hold.
Let me know what she does.

I used a Snugglie or whatever it was called 21 years ago! I kept him close to me and he never complained!

yup, she's got a sling and she says baby loves that.. may be that she's worried about using the sling with a grocery cart though...

I just got new pictures of her tonight and she has really grown a lot!!! if i get a chance, i'll put a picture up.
