| Someone signed me up for, or somehow I got put on a mailing list for a free year of American Baby. It was okay, but really the best information I got/get is from books and the internet. But American Baby was good, and had some good articles. When the year was up and they wanted me to pay to renew I elected not to. That's the only baby magazine that I have any experience with. Edit to add: Actually, dh's subscription to Consumer Reports, and paying the $5 a year for online access, was VERY helpful. We bought our carseat (not our first infant carrier, but our first stay-in-car carseat), jogger stroller, moniter, and many other things based on their reviews. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was mysteriously receiving American Baby after I had each of my kids too. It must be something that the hospital sets up or something. Like you said, it was ok. I don't think I ever really got anything out of it though. I wasn't ever interested in getting any other baby magazines because kids grow so fast that the information that you need is always changing with their age. I agree that books and the internet are most helpful...along with picking the brains of every other woman I know that has had a baby! Definitely the most valuable resource out there! Consumer Reports, on the other hand, would be an awesome gift subscription to give! My parents have subscribed for years and I'm always stealing their copies. In every issue you can find something that applies to you. Plus, I like that it has recall information in it, especially when it comes to baby stuff! Karla |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Ditto on the American Baby. I remember signing up for a free year on a site somewhere, but they actually sent it to me for like 17 months. I didn't pay for it when it stopped coming, but did enjoy it while it was free. I think there are some really great parenting books out there that I would recommend over a mag. |
