Default \'ME\' time...

Hi ladies, I just had to post a message about how awesome and nessesary having some well needed 'Me' time today was...

Today I got to spend 2 whole hours by my self. Emily started pre school and her Nana picked her up for me and they had a lunch date. Sooooo, I got to drive out to our cottege by myself (listening to [i:412dd351fa]my[/i:412dd351fa] music :-D ) to work on a project. I know this doesn't sound like much, but to just have the time by myself was [b:412dd351fa]so wonderful[/b:412dd351fa]. Kurt joined me when he got home from this trip and we got so much done!

In my vent session (you were right Icantrell!) all I really did need was some time away from the kids. Now, when I picked up Emily from my MIL and saw Alex when he got home from school, I was in such a better mood and much more ready to deal with being a mommy again.

The wierd thing is that I forget how much I need time away from being mommy. I just keep going and going until I reach burn out mode and become the wicked witch of the west MI. Even when Kurt is home, some of you may relate, I even don't take enough breaks because I often feel guilty for being away from him. YKWIM?

Call it my 'reoccuring light bulb moment'!!!

Shaunna,

I'm right there w/ you w/ the "me time." I'm in burnout mode big time! We are having some difficulties w/ our 2 y/o son (long story) and then I've got a 3 mos old who is an absolute joy but is not sleeping thru the night yet! I'm exhausted! We didnt get our annual beach trip this year b/c the baby was born and our fall motorcycle trek to the mtns isnt until next month. While I adore my children, I need a chance to recharge! No time for that right now...so guess I'll just keep pluggin' along!

Stacy,
When does dh get home? Do you feel like you can go run errands or just go away for a little bit when he is home? It's not Kurt has a problem with me having some alone time at all, but he also most every time ends up tagging along because he wants to spend time with me. It is so hard to find a balance between it all.

Mommy burn out is SO AWFUL, I don't even like myself when I am that way. Then if you throw any hormones into the picture and I can be down right scary! LOL

I am just so glad to have the support of you ladies! THANX!

Quick reply cuz I gotta get DS down for a nap before the baby wakes up and keeps him from napping.

I have a similar problem. I hate running errands, etc. when DH is home b/c I want to spend time w/ him. I try to get as much done w/ the kids or get a babysitter for brief periods. What I'd REALLY love is a cleaning lady. It takes all day for me to clean my house and that takes up so much of my time that I want to spend w/ DH! I stay so conflicted!

Gotta run...nap time!

a cleaning lady is a real help. we had one as i was growing up. she would usually come once a week (though i had a friend who only used her once every two weeks) and was in the house for about 3 hours or so. Durring that time (in the summer when we weren't at school) my mom would take my bro and I to the library or to return popcans and then take that money to the bookstore. or we would go out and go to a museum or something like that, and when we got home the house was clean! it was like magic. the standard rule for our house though was you had to pick up your room so she could clean it. If there were clothes and toys all over the place she couldn't clean it. so it got us to pick up our rooms too and then she vacummed, changed the sheets, dusted etc.

it was nice because my bro and i got to spend quality time with mom while she didn't have to worry about the house.

I know what you mean about cleaning, but I used to try to clean my whole house at once too and decided that it took way too much time all at once, so now I clean one floor at at time and 'spot' clean as much as I can every day. I also clean our bathroom while I am getting ready in the morning once a week, our shower while I am in it, and the kids bathroom while my daughter plays in the tub to save time. (I clean out their shower/tub when they are in bed or another time that I can). I keep cleaning supplies on each floor and paper towels and dusters (I am a HUGE fan of swiffers) in all the bathrooms (that have cabinets) for quick access. The only time I clean the whole house at once is when we are having a party or we are leaving for vacation now.
Just some suggestions that have worked for me. :-D

Hang in there Stacy!!

we used to also have a cleaning lady come it - it really helped on being able to spend more time with DH!

as I was growing up, it would take my mom, me and my sister a full day to clean the house and since it could only be done on the weekends... it pretty much took all of our playtime out. so, i totally advocate getting a cleaning lady.. yeah, it costs money, but to me.. well worth it! I've been cleaning house for a good 6 months now to get all our debts paid off.. probably another one/two months before I can hire the lady back on... Altho it's great excercise, it really does take up a lot of time!
