Default Morning Sickess Hell!

Did any moms here ever take anything for your morning sickess? I have heard that there are meds you can take but sometimes they dont even really work? Ihave been absolutely miserable all weekend,, barely able to even function. I really got stuck in a rut this morning and all I could do was cry! I think I'm a little depressed cause the only thing that really makes me feel better is if I lie down and I am soooo sick of lying down! I want to get up and do things, enjoy the beautiful day outside but as soon as I get up I feel like I want to puke! Im dry heaving and gagging more than I am vomitting, but still its not fun at all. DH has some motion sickess bands around here somewhere that I would like to try if I could just find them now! Im tired of being sick and tired really! I am so ready to start feeling better!!! Im am feeling so sorry for myself today!!!! THis is awful! Im so greatful that im pregnant and I feel like Im being ungrateful when I bit** and complain but geeze,,, enough already!

Ok...I am trying to find a way to say this delicately, but sweetie...this is just the beginning.

If I remember correctly you are about 8 weeks? It is a lot of work to make a baby and your body is adjusting accordingly. The best line of defense is to find what works for YOU. So if you need to lie down in order to feel better do that. EveryBODY is different, just as every baby is different. Like I mentioned in a previous post the smell of mint and the taste of mint soothed my tummy, but a good girlfriend of mine could only stomach Dr. Pepper and Snickers Candy Bars. Another of my girlfriends could only drink fruit punch flavored Gatorade, no other flavor. Too funny, but like I said everyone is different. Find what works for you. Sometimes the least obvious things are what works the best.

Whenever I felt that yucky tummy I always wondered how something smaller than a grain of rice could make you feel so miserable.

But...the end result is SO worth it. Stay strong and find what works for YOU!

I agree with christykay.

There are meds, which may or may not help. They tend to start you off with something not as strong....maybr reglan, phenagran, etc. Be careful with phenagran, it may or may not make you very tired. If that isn't working, they have zofran. I think that may be strongest you can get that is safe. Call your doctor. Every office is different...but if you have already been seen, you should be able to explain the situation to the nurse. She will talk to the doctor, and then call you in something. Have your pharmacy name and number available to give to the nurse.

If anything makes you feel better that is non-medication, I would always suggest sticking to that first. I have to take meds in every pregnancy, so I know how you feel. I truely hope you feel better soon, but I wouldn't count on it for at least 6 weeks. Keep trying different foods or such and find what works for you. It may take awhile, but hopefully you will find something.

I'm no mommy, but christykay and Regina definitely know what they're talking about. I have a friend who suffered from extreme nausea throughout the ENTIRE term of her pregnancy. She tried all the drugs and even Zofran did nothing to help her. As miserable as she was, she just ADORES her little girl and she and her husband are looking to have a 2nd child.

Have you tried ginger? The root has some homeopathic qualities to assuage nausea. I have a friend who literally just sucks on the root itself!!

I hope you get to feeling better soon ...

Definitely try the arm sickness bands! I used them throughout my whole pregnancy with my twins and it does help. I even tried to take them off a couple of times to see how I would feel, and I gradually started getting sick so I put them back on. After the pregnancy, I had indentions on my wrists for a while because I had worn them for almost a year.....but it worked. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, Zofran!
That's the Odanestron I was talking about in the other thread!
The melt-in-your-mouth (not so strawberry tasting, by the way!) wonder drug for nausea. It works in 10 minutes. 5 stars from me!
