| I was wondering everyone's family friendly and children-geared Christmas movies that I can get my kids on dvd...? This may be difficult because I have a lot of criteria that I look for when buying a movie, so if you could give me the heads up on any of these things, I would appreciate it. The basic criteria that I have is no bad language, crude humor (references to sex that go over the kids' heads, but are there), totally disobedient kids, using the Lord's name in vain, and such. We use to love Stuart Little, but one day we were watching and they had at least 3 curse words in it, as well as adult crude humor that referenced sex....I had no idea why I hadn't seen it before...Anyway, that is why I try to look at the movies before I show it to the kids. ![]() We like the old It's a Wonderful Life, Nester, all the old basics of Santa and Frosty, St. Nicholas (the boy that became Santa)but I am looking for some newer ones. I guess it is kids' movies that I am looking .... I bought the Happy Elf today, but I am reluctant to open it until I can find out if it is good. The library has such a long hold that I don't know... Any ideas would be helpful.... Thanks, |

| Trista, Have you seen the One Magic Christmas? I think I saw it in a preview and it looked cute. Thanks for the input... Last edited by Regina; 11-09-2007 at 03:06 PM. |

| I have, but it's been a while so I can't remember a whole lot about it. Usually Disney puts out good stuff, though.

| I saw that and didn't like it. I thought it was awfully dark for a Christmas movie even though it had a happy ending.

| Really...you guys didn't like it? We loved it...if it is the same polar express movie. I agree that it isn't the cheery type like Frosty or Rudolph or such though. I love the hot chocolate scene! I grew up watching lots and lots of movies. My dad was just about addicted as you could be, which happened to shuffle down to me. He would get like 12 movies on Friday (3 for 99 cents at Pharmor), and then he would do bills and work in front of the movies. So, from an early age, I learned how to watch and do homework...great study skills, huh? He watched and allowed us to watch anything and everything, so basically, I was allowed to watch any movie R-rated and under from about 5 on up...nothing was really off limits. I still love movies, but I really try to pay attention now to what I bring in the house...total opposite from my upbringing. On the otherhand, I have bought a bunch of movies for the kids (we have over 100 or so because I usually find the old ones that we like for about 25 or 50 cents)...so I guess I am still part my dad. : ) |

| I luuuuv movies too...LOL. I've had netflix now for three years, wow, I can't believe it's been that long...lol. I love it. No late fees, no running to the video store. I like the weird movies, thrillers, sci-fi. Most of the family type movies bore me, but I watch them with my daughter. Although I did like the scooby movies and the Harry Potter movies are pretty good. My boys watch R movies, but I won't let my daughter. She's still too young. Me, my oldest son, who was about 18 at the time, my brother, my brother-in-law, and my husband were all at the house one day watching House of 1,000 corpses. Remember that one by Rob Zombie?? At the end of it, my son grimaced, shook his head and said, "That's just messed up." I chuckled and replied. "Yeah, isn't it great?" LOL. Got a laugh...LOL. I think the only movie I've seen that bothered me was Wolf Creek. Now that movie was messed up. It still gives me nightmares.
