Default rotten kids

I went to the grocery store this morning and left my son at home. He didn't want to go, so I let him stay home and play his video games. While I was at the store, he called and asked.

"Are those movies you ordered for Christmas?"

"What movies?"

I had ordered movies for him for Christmas off amazon and they arrived while I was at the store. He had also ordered a new Xbox controller from Amazon.

"The ones that came today in the Amazon box."

"You opened it?"

"Yeah, I thought it was my controller."

"Did it have your name on it?"

"Well, no. It has yours."

"Your controller has your name on it. That one was mine."

"Oh, so I guess i should take the movie out of the DVD and put it back then huh?"

I have a way to get him back though. I'm putting those movies in a drawer and replacing them with movies I know he won't like for when he opens it on Christmas morning. It'll serve him right for opening mail he knows he shouldn't open...LOL.

agh, that's a difficult situation when you are trying to hide stuff before Christmas.

If it doesn't take too much energy I would replace them.. or he can get movies like "Barney's Christmas"

No joke, I can remember one pre-Christmas my brother and I got caught snooping for our Christmas presents. My mom took us and the presents back to the store and returned everything. It was horrible, for weeks before Christmas we thought we were not getting anything. I have to admit, it taught us a lesson. . . NO SNOOPING!!

awww.. you can't blame em! christmas brings out all sorts of things in kids....

I'd totally see it as a cute/funny thing and just not get him anymore movies...tell him that "well, you already opened your movie present, so no more for you" and that'll teach him not to do that anymore.

he's probably too young to really know that he shouldn't be opening mail of his own....but it's never to young to learn!

I laughed at his comment about taking the DVD out of the DVD player and putting it back in the box. LOL. At first I thought he was joking but he really did open it and start watching it...

I'm going to keep the movies and stick them in a drawer somewhere, then at Christmas fill the box with romantic comedies and make him think he gets those for snooping. That should get him going for a little while...LOL.

My brother has done the same thing to me also...I spoil my brother because he's the baby, and the only boy...but like any teenage kid, he's in to video games and such...well, I thought I'd be sneaky and just keep his presents in my car, and one day he came up to me and asked..."so those presents are mine, right??"...and then had the nerve to ask me, "well, can we exchange one of them?" yeah, he's crazy...but gotta love him...I do like wrapping up items that resemble a video game box, and letting him rip open to find like a book...it's a good laugh!

I was doing routine grocery shopping when I saw a lego kit marked down 50%. so I grabbed it for Christmas. But it completely slipped my mind and when I got home I told DS to go unload the bags, well guess what he found right off! But he did tell me that he was always going to unload the grocery from then on, just in case I was trying to hind any more!
