Default Paternity leave?

I'm sure that this varies by job, but were your husbands able to take time off around the birth of a new baby? How much? What if he is a new hire and still in that probationary period/sitting reserve a lot? (Forgive me, I know very little about how the airlines work!) Any info/experiences would be helpful, thanks!

My DH took one month of FMLA when our daughter was born and he plans on doing the same thing when #2 arrives.

I haven't heard of any airline offering PAID paternity leave though.

If your DH is a new hire he won't even qualify for FMLA til he's been with the company at least one year (as least as far as I know).

Good luck!

When mine was flying the line, he used 2 weeks of vacation.
It actually worked out well for us.

Good luck.

Sorry, I'm totally ignorant of this stuff - what does "flying the line" mean?
Thanks!

It meant when he was flying every month.
Now he's a simulator instructor and checkairman so he's home almost every night and only flies when he wants.

So sorry and welcome aboard!!

Gotcha, thanks! That's great that he can be home a lot and still fly when he wants.

we miss the one year anniversary by one month! So we don't vaca time to use. But they told us to call when the time comes and they will put him on emergency leave. We are only taking a week.
