We considered it except... My parents and I are so different when it comes to parenting. My mom tries give us a guilt trip on everything. She'll say, "Oh now come on it's just .......... But what drives me nuts worse than that is the fact that she lets them eat whatever they want. I'm all for having fun and saying eat it, we're on vacation, but last year both kids went to FL for 1 week before DH and I went down. My DS had put on 8lbs! I cried -- he was so heavy and all the clothes I had bought for him (for summer and for school, with the tags removed and washed) didn't fit him anymore. I've noticed also that she doesn't play with the kids anymore. When they were here for 2 weeks in May, my DS asked her to come and see something that he had made and she said "not now, I'm watching a movie." | |

| Jetgirls Member | wow..its really interesting reading about all your experiences..i too have a 4 yr old that can be very demanding at times and very sweet and loving. and i so understand the grandparent thing...whenever we go to visit nana and grandpa..nana will let her eat anything and everything and when i'm there telling my 4yr old she can't have something, nana is there saying ..you see your mommy doesnt want you to have that...i tell ya nana cannot say no to my daughter, so of course when we come home, it takes me awhile to deprogram my child... and of course all i hear from my mom is.."i'm her nana, i have to spoil her, its your job to discipline" which i do..and then my mom will get upset with me if my daughter is misbehaving..ahhhhhh!!!

I hear ya on that! We are planning a vacation for the middle of next yr, I think Africa, but with the way these kids are acting, why should we spend that money? I have a hard time cancelling things cause it will ruin everyones, more my time that I DESERVE. I am so disgusted with how my children act these days. Normally they are good. Sure they are5 and 6 yr old boys, but they just don't seem to listen. And it's normally just to me. I have done so many things by the book and still can't figure out why they act the way they do. Maybe because they feel like they can get away with more since they have a baby sister that I am constantly with?

| Brenda, maybe it is the little sister thing, bc T has completely stopped listening, I tell lance we arent going to have to worry about the teenage years bc he is never going to make it that long!
