I wouldn't leave my 8 1/2 year old son home alone. He would not want me to and would be very upset if I did.

We were at a hotel in Florida once, we saw this couple with a baby and a toddler. the next thing you know they are down at the pool by themselves with a baby monitor! There were no rooms at the pool level so who knows what floor they were on. Maybe they had some adult in the room or something, but we never saw them with any other adults the whole time we were there! Wow!

My mother started leaving my brother and I home alone at that age. I remember the first time because we took a trip to the ER when she got home my brother jabbed a pencil in my leg (which I took out) and I stabbed him in the butt with a fork, which he left there until my mother got home for proof that I did it.

That is awesome!!!

My parents used to leave my brother and I alone, he is older and he used to make me walk in front of him and he would shoot me in the butt with a bebe gun.

We live in an enclosed block... tonight I let Emily ride her bike to the other side of the block where I could not see her, but I was on the phone with the Mom at the house where she was going... from the time she left my door until she got there. And only after the daily stranger danger drill....

Em is 7 1/2 she would NEVER let me leave her alone...

My son is 6 1/2 and doesn't let me turn on the sprinkler without him. No way I could leave him alone.
LOVE the brothers stories...here one...my older brothers use to tie me and my youngest brother up and up us in the closet. Justin could get out of any knot, so they would time us to see how long it took. One time Justin couldn't get the knot done and it was late and we both fell asleep. Well the other two forgot about us and mom and dad found us tied up in the closet. Boy did they get it!

On the brother subject, I remember when we were little my brother (RIP) used to want to go out and play and my mom used to tell him to take us with him, so he would take us but once we were outside he would say "OK lets play cowboys and indians, you guys are the indians", then he would capture us and put us in jail, then he would go play for HOURS and then come back after us and let us loose.
Of course we were such good indians we never left, we just waited until he came back

It is interesting to see the difference between my four girls and ONE boy - WOW. Nicolas will thump the baby three times on the head and say, "Hi Phia!" - and he is being loving. LOL God knew what he was doing when he only gave me one boy!!

Yep, and I was blessed with only one boy too! I knew I would only have one son when we were potty training. OH MY GOODNESS. I have patience, but that my friends was insane!

Ha! My older brother used to do that to me too! He'd tie us up (me and little brother) with jump ropes.
