| Hey,,, I've got a great idea,,, why don't you taste those wet towels and let us know how they taste. I must say that is the STRANGEST craving I have ever heard in my life. Very interesting. |

| Jetgirls Member | Pica is an appetite for non-nutritive substances (e.g., coal, soil, chalk, paper, etc.) or an abnormal appetite for some things that may be considered foods, such as food ingredients (e.g., flour, raw potatoe, starch). In order for these actions to be considered pica, they must persist for more than one month, at an age where eating such objects is considered developmentally inappropriate. Pica is seen in all ages, particularly in pregnant women and small children, especially among children who aredevelopmentally disabled, where it is the most common eating disorder. Towels is a new one on me!

| This is kind of a silly question, but it's something I've wondered about. Does it tend to happen, for those of you who have kids, that when your child gets older, it enjoys eating what you might have had odd cravings for when you were pregnant? I have this unscientific theory that pregnancy cravings are really the cravings of little baby souls who already know what they like (say, from a previous existence - which is not to say I believe wholeheartedly in reincarnation...I'm never quite sure what I believe, really).

For me it was the opposite. I craved meat with my son and he hardly ever eats meat. With my daugter I was a vegetarian and she loves all meat. Weird!

My son eats pretty much nothing that I craved. I remember filling out a questionaire for the doctor about craving certain things, and one of them was "Do you want to eat laundry deteregent? There were a bunch of weird things that are not food but for some reason I remember that one. Jan

| I had tons of food cravings but my biggest was cucumbers. Oh...I just loved them and its not something I had ever just sat down and ate before. mmm... Its funny because the craving never really went away either. I still love them. And i never liked any spicey foods until I was pregnant and I got a craving for it and now love it. Pregnancy totally changed my taste buds!
