I had my first doctor visit today. Everything went great, he felt up my belly and said "Oh, yeah, you're definently 8 weeks!" I'm actually 8 1/2 by his calculations. I had the lovely up-close-and-personal exam too, thankfully the visits are less 'friendly' until the last trimester! I've only gained 2 pounds so far! Yay! I'm cutting out 90% of the garbage I ate when I was expecting Alex, and it's working already. I'll allow myself an occasional treat, but not make it a daily thing like it was before. I AM NOT going to gain 50 pounds this time around!

I'm so glad your appointment went well! It's always such a relief to have everything confirmed on those first appointments. I'm with you, I gained 60 lbs with my first and 50 with my second. Opps! I swear, if we have #3 I'm NOT going to allow myself to do that again.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Glad it all went well! The first one is NOT fun is it! I was supposed to get a pap too but we were running late so I still have to do that next time I really hate the 4 vials of blood too, but at least from here on out it's only a pee pee sample! Since we had already heard the hb at home, it wasn't quite as "amazing" as it was w/ Caleb, I cried when I heard his hb since it was the first of everything. When do you get to u/s? My only one will be at 20 weeks but it seems like every one else gets like 2 or 3. You reminded me to get my ticker up too, I have it up at other sites but forgot to here! |

Oh they definately "go there" on your first appointment! They like to get a first hand feel as to just how big your uterus is. don't know about you but anyone trying to get their hands around my uterus just doesn't sound fun to me!!! Then thankfully, (if there's no complications) they don't go there again until you're 36 weeks! Get nervous when you walk in and you're in your 9th month and your OB puts on a pair of gloves and with a wicked looking smile says "okay, lets get "jiggy" with it and have this baby!!!" Yikes!

You girls were lucky. I had transvaginal ultra sounds twice a week from about 20 weeks on. My husband almost fainted the first time he saw that thing coming at me. Now that's some fun, especially when sometimes there were about 12 doctors all looking at the screen, while your doctor thinks he's shifting gears in a sports car! One of them was writing something for the New England Journal of Medicine, so since my cervix was in there you'd think I'd be getting royalites or something!
