| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I was in Ohio a week or so ago visiting w/ family. My sister's family is camping out at mom and dad's house for a few months b/t posts. Her husband is in the state department and they have a short break before they head off to Africa. 2 cats also make up their family. Tinkerbell is just fine. But Peter was listless after the move from Manila to Ohio. When I visited he was always resting and seemed skinny. Yet he was eating and having no problems using the litter box. Since I left I guess he was getting ever skinnier and his stomach was protruding. They took him to the vet and he said Peter exhibited all the classic signs of a cat w/ cancer. His distended stomach seemed to indicate leakage from some internal organ that was failing. My sister called her husband, who is in DC for work. They agreed they would put Peter down this weekend when he was back in OH. However, the next morning, Peter was vomiting food + blood. So my dad and sister took Peter to the vet and had him put down right away. Its so sad when a family loses a pet. I knew Peter, but not well, and I'm still sad. I think the only relieved one is Tinkerbell b/c now her tormentor is gone. :-P |

| Kitty cats (and puppy dogs) should live forever! What a horrible story. Losing a pet, for some folks, is like losing a family member. Much sympathies. Kathy |

| Im very sad to read this story,,,, My dogs are my world and still do not know how I will cope when I loose one. My dream when I got my first dog of my own eight years ago was that he would live long enough to meet my baby(s). I am so happy to think that this should likely happen in Oct.. Im sad for your sister and her hubby,, that must be really tough,, I've never had to do it. ![]() |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | ok a quick thought on dogs (sorry I know this is about cats...) but I swear, Park City, UT is doggie heaven. Seriously. The dogs here out number the people, and they are all happy, playing all the time. Most people don't leash their dogs because they (the dogs) are all super friendly and chill - even with other dogs. Stores regularly have biscuits in them for their 4 legged visitors, and there are "hitching posts" outside of most restraunts so that your pup can wait while you're eating. anyway, Sorry to hear about the kitty but I bet there's a place like Park City for cats! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Stories like this, always breaks my heart...pets are truly a member of the family(and I'm with you Jo, I don't know how I'm going to cope, chokes me up just thinking about it) they should just focus on how kitty is in a better place with no pain and all the cat-nip in the world...
