Our dogs are our childern Our dogs are our childern. We have two. Chance is a 7 year old mutt that we have had for 4 yrs. Annie is a 3 year old English setter that we have had for a year. Hubby loves the dogs. Before he started flying commerical (May) he had a close relationship with both. But now the dogs are more closely associated with me.
I can tell (and hubby has mentioned) that it just breaks his heart when they don't react to him the way they do me. Chance has literally jumped over a hunched down Hubby to get to me. I am trying to be sensitve to this. I spend a few more mins in the car or go check the mail when he first comes home, so they will greet him. I make sure he gives them all the treats when he is home. He always plays with them and spends time with them when he is home, but if I go out of the room they follow me (hubby says the apron strings don't streach far enough for me to leave the room and them to stay).
And they are dogs so I can't reason with them about how this is making their daddy feel. Any suggestions on what else I can do? |
