Don't worry...he wouldn't really call in sick for xmas! But over the summer if we can't get any weeks (which I am sure we will, we'll just have to watch for them) a sick call will be needed. I am hoping that we will get lucky in the next couple of months and hopefully have a little one due around Nov/Dec of next year....then he'll need to be home.

They do drop the vacations and open that spot when someone leaves property. DH was told by scheduling that they don't drop the week until the day the person is off property (so what happened with xmas we don't know yet.....the person isn't going to be back in until Jan.2). So basically if you want a different week, you just watch for them to drop peoples week and then you can trade.

Gotcha... fortunately he was able to get off the week that he requested (final week in May), but neither of us is sure how that is going to work when it comes to bidding his June schedule, since our vacation is going to run into (at least) the 1st of June. BTW, where do you find the vacation time in CCS?

I hope that everything works out for you - preferably in the way of a different present next Christmas! (you know, the kind that cries and has poopy diapers)

It's not actually in CCS. Get onto COAIR then:
Co Divisions
XJT
XJT Flt Ops
Manpower Planning
Vacation trade with open time.

When he bids for June just make sure he bids a line that has a trip touching the last day of his vacation. That is the best way to maximize the time off. Of course you won't know exactly how many days he will have off until the June bid is awarded.

Great - thanks so much!! Do you know what the different colors mean??

Like some of the names at the top of the list are black, some are in blue, some orange, some red?? There are also numbers in parenthesis next to his number??

I can't access the trade with open time window anymore since Bill is not an XJT pilot anymore it says he has no weeks to trade. But the different colors on the vacation award screen mean they were awarded the first vacation bid (black), the secondary vacation bid (blue), the third (orange) etc. Since I can't see the trade thing I'm not sure what the number mean, may be number of days awarded?

DH said that is exactly what the number in parenthesis mean....the number of days that were awarded (pro-rated) for that vacation.

Thanks for all of your help! I see how it works now... we use the system more than they do, don't we?? It's fun to putz around with... although I'm worried that one day I'll screw something up.

Well, of course they said tough with the xmas vacation trade (even though they were the ones that messed up!). He was able to get the week after xmas, 1 week in August, and 1 in September.

I've been busy all week checking the vacation bid to see when other weeks would pop open. The other day the end of June openned up so we grabbed it. I just checked an hour ago and was able to trade the June for the middle of July! YAY! So now he has the week in July and the week in August like he had planned when he was based in Cleveland. Now I just have to hope someone who has xmas week leaves and then he will be happy....we'll it would be better if he was the one to leave, but I am not holding my breath on that one!

So all is semi-well now. He is still upset about the whole xmas thing, but he will have to get over it at some point. Or maybe we'll get lucky in the next few months and have a little one due around xmas and he'll have to be off anyway I can hope right!!!????
