Default Good vibes please!

Well, PJ went for his interview on Thurs with his first UK airline - can everyone please cross fingers and send good vibes for us!! If he got it, that would mean we get to see each other as much (or as little!) as the rest of you, rather than once every 3 weeks or so - and having just seen that his July schedule and my court commitments conflict in almost every way, far longer this month! He said the interview went ok and the sim was not as good as he'd have liked but not too bad. He has spent ages preparing for this (and goodness the sim prep etc cost us loads!) and it would just be amazing if he got it (of course I've been downplaying its importance to him so as not to stress him out even more). I actually felt sick waiting for the post this morning just in case there was a letter there!
Anyway, please send some positive thoughts into the universe for us!
Hope everyone is well,
Katherine

I'm sending lots of positive thoughts your way!
I know how it felt to see my guy a few days each month and it wasn't fun!

Thank you all, but unfortunately we found out yesterday it was not to be. My poor man is completely gutted - was really the only prospect of getting us in the same country that we can see for quite a while and he keeps saying he's sorry he didn't pull it off for us/let us down etc. Of course he didn't - he worked so hard for it and I'm so proud of him for getting as far as he did in a strange country for the first time - but it is such a disappointment.
On a different note - he has never NOT got an aviation job he's gone for, and this is going to knock his self esteem loads. Does anyone have any experience of dealing with partners who didn't get the job they wanted? How best can I help him get through it?
Oh dear, I am really miserable this morning and I just can't let him hear that in my voice when we speak.
A very sad Katherine

Sorry to hear that he didn't get the job. My husband went on an interview at Comair in 1996. At the time it was THE place to work. He was called back for a second interview, thought he did well, but the HR lady could not understand why he gave up a job towing a banner (really crappy job) to be a CFI at Embry-Riddle. He didn't get hired. He was really bummed out, since at that time there weren't alot of airlines hiring.
Then about 2 weeks later, he got a call from Continental Express. It wasn't known as a great place to work, very low pay, pay for training, etc. but he got hired. Within a year they got a new contract, which was halfway decent and shortly after that upgraded to captain. At the time they had the flow-through to Continental so he decided to stay there for awhile. Then in around 2000, USAir was hiring, they never called him (thank GOD), but he wanted to work there so he could be based where we live. What a mess we would have been in now if he did get hired there!
But he stayed at XJT (Continental Express), got screwed out of the flow- through, but ended up going to CAL, a little late, but at least he got to where he wanted to be.
If he had gone to Comair, I don't know how long it would have taken him to upgrade, if he had gone to some other major would he have been furloughed, etc. He is so grateful now that Comair turned him down! So just look at it as everything happens for a reason, and eventually something else will come along and it may work out better anyway. Good luck.

Hi Katherine,

I'm really sorry to hear that, I'd read your post and had kept my fingers crossed.

Let's hope something even better comes up really soon.

Big Hugs!
