| Admin/Owner ![]() | ok... so i'm curious, who spouse has the WORST commute out there? Mine commutes from PHX to ATL - not too bad.. but 4.5 hrs 2 times a week or what not can get harrowing! Emily, I know John doesn't commute yet - but does he know who he wants to work for and what base he would want to be at? |

| my DH (i can finally call him that as of 8/7/04!) commutes from Cincinnati to Houston so its only a 2 1/2 hour flight each way so its not too bad. usually he leaves on the early flight on monday mornings and takes a nap. then he usually gets on the evening flight on thursdays and gets home by 10:30. not too bad at all. |

| My husband has about a 2 1/2 hour drive but gives himself 4 hours in case of traffic/accidents, and a stop for food. Sometimes he flies, but it usually isn't worth the hassle and for some reason the flights are always late or cancelled anyway. I have an old friend though that commutes from Park City, UT to Seoul Korea! I think that's about the longest I have ever heard of! |

| Philly to Detwa. It's getting harder all the time! US Airways only has rj's and NWA keeps cancelling flights! And my commute is pretty rotten too--47.5 miles each way. But I am being promoted as of 9/1 so I get to add Philly to my responsibilities--6.7 miles! |

| Bill's commute isn't [i:9bc4d86d0d]too[/i:9bc4d86d0d] bad, ORD-CVG. He usually flies, especially on line months. If he gets stuck on RSV and has short call he'll usually drive to IND (where his parents live) and he can still make the 2-hour call out without having to put out for a hotel room. I usually drive him to ORD (it's only 20 minutes from our house), but I think we're going to have to shell out to get him a ORD employee parking pass. It was getting ridiculous having to pull Alex out of his crib at 10, 11pm or later to go pick him up when flights were late. If weather goes down, or flights cancel or something he can drive. It's 5 hours from our driveway to the employee lot, so it's a long drive but doable if he has to. All in all his commute isn't that bad, and right now it's worth it because we want to live in ORD, and CVG is physically the closest base for him. We'll probably always be a commuting family, I [b:9bc4d86d0d]refuse[/b:9bc4d86d0d] to live any farther south than STL, so we'll never, ever live in ATL! My commute (before my last furlough) was awful. IND-LGA/JFK. There were only three RJs that went direct, and that was on Comair or ACA. They were always late or cancelled. So if I couldn't get on one of those I had to do AA/Eagle double-leg through ORD or DFW. IND-ORD flights are [b:9bc4d86d0d]always[/b:9bc4d86d0d] full, and I ended up bumped SO many times (no FA jumpseat). It sucked to get furloughed again, but I don't miss the hassle of that obnoxious commute. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Right now we have an hour and a half commute (drive) from Ann Arbor to Kalamazoo. John right now is thinking about trying to go corporate, which would be good because there isn't a commute, but bad because he thinks that they have a very short call time. He knows the chief pilot at one major company, but thinks that they only have a 20 min call time. The other bad part about coporate is we have to go where the job is. Right now i don't think it will be too big of a deal since i should be able to find research work at pretty much any hospital, but it would suck leaving the detroit area. I kind of want to stay (relativly) close by so my parents can help us out when we have kids and they can see the kids more than just once in a while. My family is pretty much all around that area and it would be nice to stay there (then i could live in Ann Arbor too!! I love ann arbor!) {} if he ends up going to a regional and then to a big(ger) carrier, he'll go to whoever will hire him. In that case, we probably would stay in ann arbor (depending on my job situation) or move out to Utah (pre kids though) because i want to be closer to Michelle {} (and the mountains and I love that state even though i'm not MO cause it's so beautiful!) (did i mention that i love these smilies!?! i really love 'em) |

| Hello everyone! My DH commutes from SEA - JFK (6 hours) but its an on line commute, so he doesn't run the risk of getting bumped. He ALWAYS flies on line going to work, but will sometimes jump around the country to get home so he doesn't have to stay in NYC all day (jetblue only flies a redeye to sea). When I flew my commute was only 20 minutes.... |

| On-Line means he's commuting on his own airline, and not relying on another airline's jumpseats. On-line commuting is easier because it's your own airline, you're using your own travel card & can (depending on your airline's policies/procedures) reserve the jumpseat. Therefore you don't care if the flight is full or not, because you have the jumpseat reserved, and as long as the flight goes, you go. |
