Not to be competitive--just add a bit of clarity: Well, actually, Jessica I have the longest commute because I have to do it (1.75 hours one way) every friggin day twice (we're open 24/7 too)! I don't even want to leave work once I get there because it's 1.5 miles down a dirt, bumpy, gravel driveway that takes about 7 minutes to travel each way. But I don't count in this poll because this is a thread about DH's commute!!!!

I'm just the Human Resources person who keeps our national company running! We work with at risk youth and their families ( you know --all the kids no one wants because they have been abused, abandoned, their parents are drug addicts or in jail, they are suicidal, etc.).

You are right Jessica! I have always wanted to bring this full circle and now I have. I have an MSW with a specialty in Juvenile Justice. I have an MBA with a specialty in Organizational and Human Resource Development. I have all my advanced certifications in HR. I always wanted to practice HR in my chosen field. This is it for me! I love it. We do great things and I feel right about my company! It was really special to have a former kid call to visit the other day. He was going off to college (no one in his family had ever graduated high school, [b:83f0142f37]everyone [/b:83f0142f37]in his family was a drug dealer, most were in jail and the ones that were not are useless as role models). The staff took him shopping for clothes and stuff, then took him to dinner. People really care here--it means so much.

Oh Roz...that sounds so wonderful! I always wanted to go into Criminal Justice and Psychology...I wanted to understand what made criminals tick and then use the psychology to stop the cycle in at risk kids. I got distracted in college, though and never got that far. I love what I'm doing now, though but I always thought if I go back to work after the kids are grown it will be something to do with that. Kudos to you for what you do and for also for having a job that you enjoy!

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Kudo's to you Roz.. your work sounds very rewarding! I've always thought of fostering those types of kids, just haven't gotten to the point where we're ready to have any kids (no matter the age) in the house yet. and we're not sure how "safe" fostering to those type of kids are as far as relatives or parents are concerned (esp with DH being gone all the time). |
