| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Right now my guy's commute to work is about 20 minutes. He is working for Mesaba at the desk, ticketing, luggage, ramp worker, etc. He has flight instructed for the University, but is taking this semester off. We are about 3 hours <> apart right now, but I will be moving to Champaign this summer after we get married {} . He will be graduating next year, and he hopes to start instructing for the university, and then start the regional-major thing. |

| Jetgirls Member | DH's commute could be worse. CLT to MDW. When he was w/ Piedmont we lived in EWN (find that one on the map!!!) and lived 5 min's from the airport. It was great! But again, the commute to MDW isnt bad considering some of you commuting 4+ hrs., etc. @@ Speaking of MDW, say a little fly-prayer for ATA...I'm worried. Latest "official" word is no furloughs, no major changes in business but we all know thats for the press! |

| Jetgirls Member | Jim's commute is about 10 minutes... 10 minutes from home to the airport on the months he's flying and also just 10 minutes to the Flight Academy on the months he works there. Except for next month. He was asked to fly out of MIA for September so he'll have a 2 Ω hour flight, but he only has to do it twice. Two 6 day trips. He HATES commuting. Dianne |

With the A-3 he's pretty much guaranteed a seat on the commute home. There are exceptions though and he [i:2f22a97fd0]could[/i:2f22a97fd0] get bumped. Did the A-3 policy change before you were furloughed? Dianne |

| DH told me I did not give an accurate picture of this commute, SSSOOO here it is: he has to drive 30 minutes to the ferry, take the 35 minute boat ride to SEA and then drive ANOTHER 30 minutes to the airport and THEN he gets on his 6 hour flight....so in essence, his commute is 7 1/2 hours and he HATES it! @@ |

| An A1 is a crewmember deadheading somewhere (to operate a flight or on essential company business). An A1 is positive space, and can not be bumped by a revenue passenger. An A3 is a crewmember deadheading returning from an assignment. It's positive space, in that it does take away from the number of seats that can be sold for that flight, however in the event of oversale situation and A3 [i:fdd59da9a7]can[/i:fdd59da9a7] be bumped, though it doesn't happen very often. An A12 is someone traveling on company business. It's positive space, and takes away from the number of available seats, but can be bumped for a revenue passenger. When I was teaching at the schoolhouse I'd get A12s both ways (to go to DFW & back to ORD). It was a pretty sweet deal, positive space commuting, hotel provided, pay for trips missed and perdiem from when I left ORD til I got back. |

He says he loves being a pilot because he always gets there first! When he's in a goofy mood, as they are taxiing in to the gate, he'll lean forward so he "beats" the other pilot there.......of course the other pilot has no idea what he's doing, but Jason ALWAYS calls to tell me about it! He's such a dork, but I love him! |

| Im starting a dog walking business, so I just use my feet and certainly dont qualify...but I have to respond to Jessica's story...when my younger sister and I go on vacation, we try to get seats in the front of the plane on the way there and in the rear on the way home, so we can be away on vacation for the longest amount of time possible. We know its silly, but still makes it fun for us! |
