| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Here's the situation. Last month during trip trade we picked up a trip with a 2 day overnight in St. John's Newfoundland. At that time, the last day of my school was supposed to be the 20th. So I was going to fly to EWR on the 5pm flight on the 20th so I could go be on Brendan's 8pm flight to St. Johns. Then we had the huge rainstorms and had a friggin flood day. The students do not have to make it up....so their last day is still a 1/2 day on the 20th. They decide we have to have a 1/2 a day on the 21st (3.5 hours). Now I still would love to go with DH on his trip. Knowing you would be sitting there (listening to a meeting or cleaning your classroom) would you a. use a sick day and go with DH to Newfoundland. or b. go to school. I'm leaning towards a (and so is DH) but I had to waste a sick day (saving them up for when I need to take maternity leave in the future). What would you guys do???? |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | If I'm "sick" I'm sick. I don't think I could take a personal day, but they can't tell you when you can and can't take a sick day. I've even taken sick days before/after school vacations when we couldn't get to Hawaii without leaving earlier or get home without leaving later ![]() I am willing to bet a lot of people will take the day. They won't need to get subs, since the kids will not be there. The reason they are making us go the extra 1/2 day is because if we don't, the paras and secretaries will not get paid. And they are the ones who are saying they aren't going to go (they are given the option, if they don't want to get paid, they don't have to go). With the little money they make, it would be more expensive for them to get daycare for their kids that day! |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Start taking those extra vitamins and folic acid now then! i think you only have like maybe 2-3 months before next March/April baby dates come up! 85 days is a nice long amount to be able to take off!!!

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I have actually already been taking the prenatal vitamins for about 4 months now..... ![]() It is nice to have that many sick days saved up. Then to have the whole summer off! And the option of taking another year or two off. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Well....the trip is mostly likely not going to happen. Within 20 minutes the 1pm flight went from 33/50 booked to 51/50 booked. And the 5pm flight went from 45/50 to 50/50. This sucks. I was really looking forward to flying with DH (we flew together in college.....but this is different). My only other option is finding someone to drive me to Boston, but that is a pain. Oh well. |
