Default distinguished road?

So, I noticed a little green square beneath my name and i mouse over it and it says "skibum515 is on a distinguished road" Kdawg has got a bunch of squares and it says "Kristie is a name known to all" And there's a little thing on the bottom that says "add to kristie's reputation" and so my question is WTF is all this?

I noticed that too! It says that I have 90+ "Reputation Points". What are those? Is 90+ a good number? Now i'm getting self conscious (just kiddin').

I think it's fun! My green thingy says that i'm the Bombdiggity (or something like that). I love it!!

Thanks Kristie for all the cool new stuff (sucking up for reputation points, just kiddin')

Did you notice that for October, I had you as "member of the month" Tanya? that's for bringing in the new members! hahaha

but reputation is something i'd consider to be gained by number of posts added to or by overall reputation...whether your honest, give good information, people like you - that type of reputation...right now, it's just a trial thing, i'm not sure if i want to keep it or not because of a bit of sensitivity with the whole thing... I kinda see it as a possible fun thing to do in that we could change the titles... a user could comment and say another user needs "this title" or who knows what...

it's open to possibilities as far as referral for information as in "bigsweetie knows all about xxxx"...or who knows what!

it could also be compared to ebay's feedback stars - they're also considered "reputations".

here's what vbulletin actually says about it:
--
The User Reputation system allows your board members to leave comments about one anothers' posts, and thereby contribute to their overall 'reputation'.

User Reputation in its simplest form is a ranking of your user's benefit to your forum. Its basis comes from the opinions of all of your forum users that choose take part in it.

Users gain and lose reputation based on how their posts are scored by other forum participants. Users with the ability to affect reputation, will either give or take aways points by approving or disapproving with a post's content.
--
I'm just not sure it's something that can really be applied to/by us yet!
