Default FYI forum upgrade coming

As soon as a week from today, i'm going to be doing a major upgrade on the forum.

unfortunately, it means we'll lose all functionality of everything 3rd party including the style (look) because i have to paste the entire new forum package over the old.

a photo gallery/myspace type profile is apart of the new upgrade, so i'm not worried about that (if you've seen the upgrade done at JC, then that's what we'll have here as well).

but...

i'd like to know what aspects you'd like to keep so i make sure they get installed again. I don't want to have to do extra work if i don't have to.

thanks!

Thanks Kristie!! I look forward to the new digs! I can't think of anything in particular off of the top of my head.

of the forum in general....do you like the chat, way profile looks, recipe section, rating under names, google maps....that type of thing.

look at the things you use on the site and let me know which are important to you.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I use the "new post", "mark forums read" and the "user profile" (can remember anyone's details) alot.

I think the map is neat, but I only played with it once, not something I "use" per say.

I also like the search function, I don't have much luck with it. but I like the idea.

This is good to read. I also really like that there is a search available, but it never turns up results that I KNOW exist. Perhaps its user error, but it does not seem to work properly or just isn't very effective.

I find the search function useful.
I don't see the need for the google map but that is just me.
The chat is nice to have when you just want to say hi to everyone or just say something in passing.
Ratings don't really matter to me.
The recipe section is nice and I have found it very useful.

There is my input
I am looking forward to see the changes!

I really like the user profile information. I, too, can never keep people straight (esp when the avatar gets changed). Would be very nice if there was a line that we could put our on comments about nother person's profile, to be viewed/see only by the member that created it. You know, kind of a memory jogger line.

I've had pretty good results with the search function and like it.

The chat window frustrates me when I am scrolling down on the first screen and it scrolls through all the chat log first.

Love that it shows the thread and previous post at the bottom when in/on the Reply to Thread screen.

Like seeing who is on and who has been on. Like seeing when an area is being viewed and the counts on of viewed threads.

And I know that I am only one among many, but the mountian time zone stamp on post and replies has me counting on my fingers a lot. How do you feel about the central time zone?

Is there maybe a way to save draft copies of post? Not sure if it would get a ton of use but I have occasionally found myself *interupted* with work in the middle of a post or wanting to hang on to a thought/post before tossing my .02$ in.

Also because I can't spell worth a daammnn, I would love a spell checker (and my post might look less like a third grader typed them).

you can change the time zone in your usercp!!

I'll check and see if the new software has a draft to it. if not, i'll look for a hack or something.

I'll look into the chat window.

Thanks for the ideas!! that's exactly the info i need...

anything else anyone would like to see or want to make sure we keep?
