Default Paris at Christmas?

Anyone been to Paris during christmas time? going this weekend for xmas since i can't get to my sisters and doug's family celebrates turkey day more ferverently than xmas...

believe it or not... we can't get to florida.. but i can get to paris.. how wacked out is that?

If anyone has any pointers, let me know!!! We're staying at the Marriott La Defense so we can finally obtain silver elite status...

I know we'll be looking for a grocery store around there to gather up good wine/cheese/bread etc...and then heading to the christmas markets (whereever they are)... and then i hear that you HAVE to go to the galleria to see the animated windows...but am wondering more about christmas eve fun things to do/traditions/boat rides/church services...maybe hit the service at Notre Dame, who knows!

currently sitting in CVG waiting for our flight... the worst of the worst was this morning on the PHX-CVG portion in which we really had no idea if we'd make it or not...so instead of trying for the afternoon flight, we opted for the crack of dawn, kristie gets up at 3am flight...and we got lucky.. got two of the last 5 seats!!

so, now we're on a 5 hr layover and i'm bored....i dunno why, i have plenty of website work to do, just don't feel like doing it yet i guess...

but anyway, now that the hardest part of the day is done, we're definately going to Paris!!

Have a great time Krisite! I hope to go overseas at some point- still haven't had the chance. We usuallly go where it is free for us....Florida (inlaws have a condo on the beach), Hawaii (inlaws have time share) and the lakes in NH (we have a house in central NH). DH and I would love to go to Italy especially after reading some of Dan Brown's books! We would also like to go to Russia after reading a few books about Czar Nicholas II. We said last year we would travel after I finally got my passport (I had a huge problem with my name change after we got married...finally got it all fixed last March). I figure we better go before our pass privledges on Continental change (it is going to remain unchanged in 2007 but we know it will be different in 2008....).

Have a great trip Kristie and Doug! I'll be here, in boring old MI with the fam... : (

Actually though, i'm more excited about watching Emily open and enjoy her gifts than I am my own. We bought her a play kitchen this year and I can't wait to see her face when she sees it!

Anyway, can't wait to see the pictures! Be safe and have fun!

ack! well, next year, we're staying home for christmas... we had a grand time in Paris and I'd do it again if i'd never been there (definately something that should be done once in your lifetime because there's a lot to see/do)...but being stranded in hotlanta royally blows this whole trip!!

loads looked great yesterday, were an overwhelming number of seats open and i dunno what got messed up, but now it's non-rev galore and overfilled flights... not good for trying to get home and get back to work tomorrow.. esp for doug cuz he starts a trip tomorrow.

so, if anything, he can take the jumpseat back home and i'll stay here for the night, try again at o-dark-thirty tomorrow.

we've kinda realized that even tho we went and did christmasy things, we're kinda missing christmas cuz we're stuck at ATL... tons of people around, annoying electric cars, annoying CNN conversations (larry king irks me) and i'm just ready to be home now.
