I think Eric and I got our best hotel deals from Hotels.com. We found some good deals off of Market Street and then another decent deal in Japantown - although that was a nice hotel since we were celebrating our Anniversary.

New question... there are so many choices with hotels. Nick wants to know where we SHOULDN'T stay- not specific hotels, just "bad" areas. We want to be fairly close to some of the cool places you mentioned. Thanks!

Anything in Fisherman's wharf is OK.
Market street for the most part is OK.

There's a Holiday Inn in Fisherman's Wharf that I think is very popular.

For hotels and cheap rates try www.dargle.com

They deal only with interline employees. We got a cruise for our honeymoon for DIRT CHEAP and I've sent a few other people there and they've had enorous success.

travel industry discount... airline employee discount...

you'll get into it Christine when hubby starts flying regional.

there are some great hotel & cruise discounts.. also all inclusive down in the carribean etc...

www.perx.com is the one i like. dargle's pretty good, but hard to tell what the cost of their packages are without calling in.

What we have done in the past is look on line for cruises we want to take (go to royal caribbean, holand america, etc websites) and then call dargle to see what they can offer us. For our honeymoon, the guy gave us a quote and we said ok, we'd think about it. He called back five minutes later and said "if you're willing to leave a day later and return a day later, I can get you on a boat for half the price I just quoted you." So....it takes a little work, but in our opinion its well worth it.

One of the ladies at the Yahoo site took her family of four on a cruise for $1000, everything included execpt alcohol, gratuity, etc.....not bad!

Also, interline is any transportation employee (Amtrack, airlines, etc....) sorry I wasn't more clear....sometimes I forget we have people on here that aren't flying commercial! OOPS!

Thanks- I checked out perx but couldn't pull up Dargle.com. I did a search for it, but still no luck.

It looks like it will be a short trip: 2/20-2/23. (Nick needs to get back early to PHX.)
We're not going to risk using a BP for me to get to CA, but the airfare isn't too bad: $138 RT. Hopefully we can save some money on the hotel using the discount.
I'm going to make some calls tomorrow.

GO EAGLES!!
