Default anyone know...

what the rules are for xmas packages this year? gonna take a package with wrapped presents thru the airport (checked baggage to make it a bit easier).. but i'm concerned that not only will they open the box if they think they need to - but that they'll also unwrap my gifts...

that would SUCK!!

I can't imagine that the rules have changed since last year. If it was me, I'd put them in nice gift bags unwrapped, with tissue fluffed all around so the gift can be taken out and put back in without destroying anything.

wish i could do that, but i'm taking a full box load! oh well, i wrapped them anyways before i even posted the message or even had the thought about whether they should stay unwrapped... i guess if they unwrap them, then so be it...

so long as they don't take my french champagne bottle away as i'm going thru security! heaven forbid that's a weapon because of the "cork"... hahahha

We're not going to wrap ours. Heck, we may even wait until we get there to buy them.

Kristie,
Since you already wrapped your gifts my suggestion won't do any good, but...

One easy way to get around worrying if security will want to check out your gifts is to use [b:21be0bac9a]TheWife's[/b:21be0bac9a] idea of using gift bags and tissue paper... just don't put the gifts in the gift bags until you reach your destination. Packaged tissue paper and folded gift bags don't take too much space and you've already allotted room for the actual gifts.

Just a thought.

Or, FedEx the box of already wrapped gifts, using your DH's handy airline discount. It may get there before you do.

you know what happened...

since i wrapped all my gifts.. i checked them in at the ticket counter.. when i reached my destination - i noticed that there was tape on there with "inspected" on it.. and a TSA tag with a code on it... so later on, i checked my box and they left all my packages wrapped and it didn't seem like they really LOOKED in the box (nothing was moved around).. but it was opened... I was really quite pleased that they didn't unwrap them... I think they put the code on top so if anythihg was missing or wrong, you could call about it but luckily, i didn't have to use it...

so - you never know... they say don't wrap them if your going to carry them on.. but i think you might be able to wrap them if your checking them - because keep in mind - they do go thru that major radioactive screener!!
