Default Europe

Hey everyone, I've got a question -

John and I are planning a month long trip to Europe in May - we're planning on getting the eurail pass and going all over the western half of the continent (england, france, switzerland, italy, germany, back to england and the over to ireland) We're going to pretty much be staying at cheap hotels or hostles over there, and right now I'm starting to look for some type of backpack/bag thing to carry my clothes in. I heard the weather was supposed to be pretty nice (jeans and tshirts) and I figure i only really need to take a week's worth of clothes with me. Anyway, the question is - do any of you have experiance doing this type of traveling around and if so, what kind of backpack/bag would you reccomend to carry everything?

Default Re: Europe

I've heard eagle creek is the best type of pack to get... there's a ton of hosteling sites out there with info on where to go/what to pack etc...

when we went to paris, we used those space saver bags in our carry on luggage and those worked great but the end of the bag itself takes up a bit of room...

i'd suggest if your going to hostel it, definately get a hostel card from HI (hostelling international) or a hostels of europe card

here's a good website I found -

http://www.backpackeurope.com/hostels/hostelfaq.html

we thought about hostelling around paris but I realized i'm still a bit vane in that I need my hairdryer and a room of my own! most hostels have bunkbed type dorm style rooms - not many at all have separate rooms....etc... so that's why we didn't go that route...

I looked up a ton of stuff though and there's just loads of information out there!!
