    Default Question about Delta nonrevving

Ok, my husband and are are from the Northwest side of the DL/NWA merger and this is the first time any of us have flown in the past two months since everything went exclusively to the Delta system.

He usually has about a half hour between finishing a trip and catching his commute. Because of this, I used to verify/check him in on his commute flight so he'd have one less thing to worry about in case he was running late or anything. My question is - how do I know he's checked in? When I go to check him in on delta.com, I get nothing saying that says he actually was checked in. Even if I go to view his reservation afterward, there's still an option to check him in. So is he checked in or not? Is it even possible with Delta to check in online if you're nonrevving?

I just don't want him to get to the airport and have a hard time if he doesn't have too much time or the gate agent is less than helpful.

the only way you can see if he's checked in is if he's listed on the flight first....then hit the "show airport standby list" and that'll show all the nonrevs waiting or a seat...if he's checked in, it'll say "awaiting seat".

however if he's using the jumpseat, there's no way you can check.

the only thing you can do for him is tell him if there's a delay, how many seats are available and how many NRs there are to garnish whether he'd be able to get a seat or not or needs to jumpseat.

it is not possible to check in online as a non rev...and i think non-revs have to check in within 30 minutes of the flight leaving (60 for international i think).

Yet another reason why the Northwest system was better. Why would they not be able to check in online? I hope he gets there before the 30 minute mark so he doesn't miss his flight simply because he had no way of checking in any earlier.

Thanks for the information, though. I'll pass it on to him.

i guess they just don't have that available yet....or maybe they want the seat requests to be printed AT the airport...who knows.

he could always still call in for the jumpseat...he can call 3 days ahead and reserve it before anyone else. that's what doug does to make sure he gets to work and back....he doesn't always take the jumpseat if there are seats open. if there are seats open, he'll take a seat and let someone else (who can't take a seat) take the jumpseat but having it reserved makes a big difference in stress level

That's what he'll probably end up doing. I had no idea they could call in 3 days ahead of time to jumpseat. Is this just for the mainline guys? My husband flies for a regional and I was never under the impression that he could list for the jumpseat soearly. If he could do that, we'd have NO worries

Yes, we can get into travelnet. I think all of the regionals can.

Lance always has a gate adgent or delta service desk check him in earlier in the day if he has a tight flight to catch.
He wasn't sure he wanted a baby sister, but he loved her the moment he saw her.

Commuters can check within 10 seconds of closing the gate if an agent will activate them and there are seats--happens all the time. I don't know if it applies to "in uniform" only...
Since there isn't any NW system, it seems moot to complain now. There have been some really good additions to the merged system from both ALs. I love the changes to travelnet that came from NW--particularly the nonrev interline stuff. I think the online ck-in is an issue with travelnet/java for mobile use (Kristie--do you know?)
