Wau..How long are you staying?
definitely go to see:
1.A jewish cemetery
2. I think you liked a beer? there a organized bus trips to visit Pilsen brewery..and town brewerie´s as well.
3. Food- try "knedlo-vepro-zelo" = it´s a pork with cabbage and dumplings...my favourite...another variant with roasted duck..delicious as well.
4. Place to eat: Restaurace u Fleku (Pivovar a restaurace U Fleků)
5. Staromestke namesti ( Old town square ) and Staromestka radnice with the anciet clock. And at the same place you´ll have a christmas market (Christmas Markets in Prague - Prague Christmas Markets 2009)
6. Wenceslao square..
and I could go on for ever

I second all of her recommendations. I've been 2X and just bought anotehr auction for next spring for our anniversary.
You can wander around Mala Strana and find the cafes tucked into courtyards--just above the Charles Bridge near the embassies, Nerudova or Thunovska. Little wine/cigar bar # 10 Nerudova ground floor of the apt we had for our honeymoon. Major wine/food bar on the basement level but not sure about current quality due to owner change.
For a really smashy view, the House Nebozizek is halfway up the funicular route (buy transport pass or get ticket book) Not cheap but for a beer or wine, it's pretty awesome. Continue up the funicular to the tower and walk toward the castle and down.
Sturdy shoes!! Take some Aspercreme for muscle aches--Prague is murder on your calves. PS--I think the Jewish cemetery is now blockaded and you have to pay admission for a tour. (unless my sister was mistaken in June and she got scammed)
Bundle up and PS--the Amazing Race Final 2 episodes are Prague (TIVO!!) this Sunday--I'll wave to you from Budapest--hope you go Kristie--it's a great city. Don't miss the stained glass at St. Vitus or music at ST Nicholas.

I looked it up and there is a fee now:
Jewish Museum in Prague
Entrance fee for all Jewish sites in the Old Town of Prague
Adults - 480 CZK (28 $)
and if you wanna shoot some pictures...they charging 50 CZK!! (3$)

Oh, amazing race there? I watch the first season..(the one we got over here).

Try the deserts ( all kind of baking and tart)..I´m salivating just thinking about it..

Thanks for the info, Oppita. That's too bad because my sister said she felt ripped off, even tho it was interesting. I thought it was fabulous when it was free. I see they really need to keep it preserved and these days it's harder to do with all the development.
I'm with you--if I have room in my tummy $480czk can get me something yummy!!! Fruit dumplings!! Duck!!! Chateau Radnye Brut!!
Kristie---walk as much as you can--that food needs serious exercise!
I'll eat my way thru Budapest, then live vicariously thru your pics when you get back.

yup, we went to U Flecku.. and it was awesome!! reminded me a lot of a restaurant in Cologne and Frankfurt where it's picnic style, singing and beer drinking...they have an accordian and tuba player that helps with the singing...

I'll talk more later cuz it's late and we have an early morning flight. but OMG ladies, you guys would love Prague... it's clean, it's friendly, it's a shopping MECCA!!! right next to the Hilton here, is a shopping mall that has 200 stores!

and the Hilton, i can't give them enough 5 stars because the showers are hot and comfy, the A/C exquisite (best in europe as far as i've experienced)..the bed comfortable....internet free, health/gym free....you just can't beat it as a seriously good spouse like layover city!! honestly, one of the best stays i've had in a while!

will tell more laterz when i get back.

oh btw, i'm coming back next month (17th-20th) as doug has another trip here... for anyone that would like to join me and partake of the xmas markets!!
