| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | non reving was created by the devil to taunt people into thinking they can go someplace only to dash their hopes with massive thunderstorms! CAL canceled a bunch of their flights in Newark today because the airport shut down for a while, so now all of my wide open flights are all -4 (or worse). Meanwhile, I'm sitting in Vegas because all the flights from SLC to anywhere CAL were horrible, so I was going to go SLC-LAS-EWR-DTW. Now all the EWR-DTW flights are HORRIBLE so I'm going LAS-CLE-DTW hoping that the LAS-CLE flight doesn't get canceled. It was supposed to go out at 3:40 (4:30?) this afternoon, it's not supposed to arrive now until 1am. It's off the gate in Newark, waiting to taxi/take off. I really hope that the pilots don't time out on this one... I think I could count on 4 fingers the number of times that I've had an "easy" non-rev experience. I always seem to end up going all over the place ![]() |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I'm sorry! Dh had his first non-rev experience last week. It went pretty good. He was aiming for a 7:30 flight to from LAS to SLC but it was full so he made it to the 8:30, it was delayed about 20 minutes but he still got home. Going back to LAS from SLC was easy, he got on a list for a 5:00 flight, got on the flight and off he went. I hope it's always this easy cause I'm really nervous about him getting stuck home one of these times and not making back to LAS in time to work. |

That is some seriously yucky non reving. I am so sorry! I hope you have a good book or three. DH knew that when he was called out for reserve that he's be working lots this week. They have extended his "out and back" three times so far and I'm sure that won't be the end of it. This weather is UGLY! Good luck!

I should be good now! I really should go hunt down some tyelonl PM type of thing so that I can sleep well on the flight... |

| yeah, tornadoes and major thunderstorms really mess up nonrevs, don't they?? kinda wreaks havoc on commuters who really need to get to work, too. I do not understand why paying passengers want to fly on the same routes I do? ARGHHH |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | That stinks! From what I hear a lot of the flights were delayed taking off due to the nasty weather People were talking about it on today's flight. The flight I took this morning was showing 28 seats available last night and when I woke up it was -3! Fortunately I drove to EWR at 4am to make my 7am flight and there was a seat available for me. There IS a lot of excitement with non-revving, that's for sure.

| Haha! I've spent many a night sleeping at the airport...my favorite sleepover was EWR on Christmas Eve ....awful , but I deserved it if I thought I could beat a paying customer on a holiday....never again though. My next trip and probaly next non -rev trip is too BLT in two weeks...flying from PHX to CLE to BLT and flying back BLT to EWR to PHX....so far PBT's look okay and I think may have the sympathy of the tickets agent when they see a VERY pregnant Non rev. I listed my Vac pass and first class , so we'll see ! ![]() |

| Well, knock on wood as I say this, but I've had A LOT of good luck lately with non-reving. I took 7 flights in the last 3 days, made every one, and had only one slight delay. AND, had awesome gate agents. (That really just makes it great for me!) In ORD, the agent saw I'd listed for coach, and bumped me up to biz on the triple 7. Might as well have been First. THAT is for sure the way to fly. If only it were always that way... tablecloth, silverware, "china," yummy food, and a REALLY interesting person to sit next to. (International Affairs professor from Georgetown. Intriguing to hear his stories from around the world.) He and I spoke the entire flight, and I was actually sorry when we began the descent. Here's to hoping the luck continues! |

| May happen...I remember coming home (PHL) from SEA and having to connect in PIT--no change of plane. Well, as it turns out the previous flight from PIT to PHL cancelled and they were pulling me off the plane. I made a comment under my breath about my Dad having just died. The GA asked me, "Did you just say your Dad just died?" I told her I said that and it was true. She got me on the plane back in my 1A seat just in time to hear the CA board the plane and complain that they had to call him in to fly because he was #2 on the senority list at US Airways and would no longer be current if he didn't fly (he bid to not fly--had a home business). He was sure to tell everyone that if he didn't fly, it would cost the company $60,000 to requalify him. |
