We got back a few hours earlier! We had a BLAST in Lisbon!! I went coach there and biz first coming home. The weather in Lisbon was perfect- about 60 degrees F and mostly sunny. We went to St George's castle and took a tour of Sintra. We did SO MUCH walking and ended up in some quaint neighborhoods (I'll have to look up the names). We missed a few things since we could get to everything (no port institute but we had port at dinner... no Tram 28 line to the castle... we walked!).

It was such a beautiful city! I wish we knew our way around better but oh well. I think Nick wanted to kill me b/c I brought an adapter for my curling iron but I guess it didn't work- I blew a fuse and we lost electricity for a while (big oops). We took the underground to Lisbon's biggest mall and I invested in a curling iron made for European outlets. The mall wasn't on our list of places to see, but it was a huge mall and pretty neat to see the types of stores there.

I'll post pics of our trip in the next week when I have some time.

AWESOME!! glad you had a great time!

I did that once with my curling iron... I didn't blow a fuse, but the flat iron did start to smoke *DOH!*

I keep looking for a good flat iron there but can't seem to find one that won't cost $100 USD, so i just keep bringing the euro plugs with.

What type of outlets do they use over there?

What kind of food did they have? was it more spanish??

The funny thing about the fuse is that Nick said he smelled something like "burning". He left the room to go iron his shirt (they have an 'ironing room') on the 9th floor! As soon as he left I heard a loud POP and all the lights were out. All I could think of is that "Nick's gonna kill me!!!". I called the front desk and they fixed things in a few minutes, I guess this type of thing happens a lot!

I actually thought of you when we went to the mall. There was a store that had all sorts of flat irons (nice ones), that were under $100 USD- in fact some were about $50! I was looking for a large barrel curling iron though and didn't find any under $100 USD, so I bought a smaller one for about $25 USD The outlets in Portugal are the same in England.

The Portuguese like to eat lots of fish, from what I can tell! Maybe b/c there's LOTS of water all around?! They had huge tiger prawns that the FO said were $100 USD per kilo. He got 2 of them and that was almost a kilo! They also cook in a lot of olive oil. I read in my travel book that at dinner they will give you bread, olives, etc but you get chared if you eat them. That's excatly what they did, kept bringing out the bread and such! We also had some delicious danish in the morning and went to a little place that had the best freshly squeezed o.j.! There were so many places to eat, but many of them were really tiny.
More info in a bit, Nick's calling me to watch a movie!

ahhh yea, that's right. Lisbon is right on the water so of course they'd be a seafoody type of community. Did the shrimpys taste the same as the types we get over here? HAHA (had to ask, i know... i'm weird like that!)

Speaking of CAL, i just found out today that Delta's going to be getting ZED fares on CAL and Alaska....so maybe some week when we're not both working 12 hr shifts, we should hop over to somewhere... I gotta see where CAL goes to see what would be fun. I know Delta's adding a lot of new places, i have no idea if we can even hop on any....but with Alaska in the picture, we could go back up and grab some more glacier beer?? mmmmmm...that sounds good!! hehe

So what was the language like? lots of english speakers or did you try and get a few words in? I wonder if the tiny restaurants were more like tapas restaurants?

Enjoy your movie! If it's any good, let us know... we all need to stop and watch a movie every now and again (or so i'm realizing...again).

I just added some pics to the photo gallery (it looks like only 10 pics was max I could add). I have over 100 pics so I just chose a few.

And Kristie, just let me know when and where you want to meet up! Alaska would be great but now it is a bit far from PHL We'll figure something out!

Your photos are great! I am jealous, Lisbon is one of the places I am dying to visit. That is where I was trying to go with DH over Christmas, but ended up in Brussels.
