I've never been to NYC either .... save a plane change at Newark. I'm not really into big cities, but I'd still like to get to NYC for the experience and to say that I've been there. Fiance is from central NJ and has been to the city a lot so I'm hoping he'll be my tour guide!

No definitely! I totally agree with you! NYC is definitely on my "Favorite Cities" list, too.

Oh yeah- it's best to go with somebody who knows the city (and the public transportation system). There are so many smaller/unique stores and restaurants that are amazing but it seems like the locals know about it. My dad worked in NYC 30 years while I was growing up and my bro-in-law has a big office right near Madison Square Garden/Penn Station. It's nice for the broadway shows too. My sis and I are taking my mom to see a show this Spring for her b-day!
I still don't feel 100% comfortable going to NYC by myself!

now...start looking at getting to "the impossible".. it's a fun challenge!
