Default DEc sched- bummed!

I am so disappointed. Nick got his schedule and he has a 48 hr layover in Edinburgh... but it's over Christmas 12/23-12/26. Since I am new to my job, I don't have any seniority for vacation time. I most likely won't be approved since I am one of the only supervisors working over Xmas. His other trips earlier in the month are short Belfast or Glasgow.
I am so sad... I want to go somewhere with my honey.
I can take off from work during the 1st 2 weeks, but not the final 2 weeks.

Try and ask anyways Amanda.. all they can do is say "no" but at least you tried...and you do have one day in there that IS a federal holiday, so that helps too!

it is the holidays and sometimes employers are a bit more sensitive about that.

does he have any other weekend trips? if not, why don't you two go somewhere for 48 hrs over a weekend anyways?? there's no reason he has to be flying it in order to enjoy a quick trip (the only thing it does is save some cash).

Well, my mgr said no. It was what I was expecting.

Nick only has one other weekend trip to Belfast 12/14 and I would be approved from work, but I can't go. One of my best friends is moving to MD and it is her going away party that night. If I missed I think she would be VERY upset!

I'll have to figure something else out. Nick still has 2 vacation passes for me and they expire 12/31!

Sorry you didn't get approved for the vacation time. At least you asked! Since you two will be married soon, you will have a lifetime of trips ahead!

Im so sorry Amanda. I can relate! Bill is in upgrade training right now and we had two christmas trips planned. One to disney with my family and one to Michigan to see his family. He will not be able to do either trip now because of this sim schedule! Total BUMMER! I guess there is always next year huh??

Brenda, you're so sweet for asking me that! I have been DREADING this since he got the initial award back in Sept and surprising, Im going just great. I am in Panama City where my family is, so it's cake now when he's gone. Not that I enjoy it or anything, but it's so much easier when you have friends and family that understand (well kind of!) He actaully just had his first two days last week (tues and wed) then off for 4 and back at it on monday (he will commute in to ATL on Sun) looks like he should be done around the end of Dec. Aprrox 5-6 weeks total including IOE. Next week will be a long week, he leaves Sun and doesnt get back home until Friday night then back on Mon. But like right now,, he's in his office studying and here I am looking for comfort.Hahaha! Im off work,. it's the weekend and he's gotta study. For some reason, I just understand things on a totally different level now. I keep myself busy when I need to and give him his time to study when He needs it. It's been working GREAT. I am making black and white cookies tonight so he can take some tomorrow when he leaves! Arent I nice? WIll give me something to do while he studies too.

Enough about me, How's that baby doing? Getting any sleep? How does it affect Eric when he's got an early sign in? Is it bad?

I think I might try to get to PHX for the weekend. I'm just not sure when - I guess it would have to be one of the next 2 weekends!

Brenda- Hopefully some point I'll get to go on a trip w/ Nick again. We had a blast when we went to EDI. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good January sched!

Jo- I am so sorry to hear that your Dec plans have been messed up too due to scheduling. And black & white cookies are my favorite!! Send some over!!
