Hi Amanda -
First I want to send my thanks to you and your Sweetie Nick for passing the word on about JetGirls. I haven't done anything like this and I am just getting the hang of the blogging thing, but I feel it will be a nice way to connect with other people with similar lifestyles!
My heart went out to you regarding your xmas Edinborough dilema...that is so tough! Any luck so far with this? I have a story to share which may help you feel a bit better ( or at least in company! ). I nonreved up from Orlando with my husband Steve on Thanksgiving Eve to go along with him to Manchester UK - we were so confident and happy never thinking that delays may keep our great plans from happening! They rolled over a bunch of misconnects from the earlier Manchester flight to the one Steve was working and to make a long story short...there I was bumped off the flight -- a pathetic and heartbroken picture of my nose against the glass totally bummed. Then I just camped out in the a/p and took the early flight home. It happens! Just hang in there. I always tell Steve when things don't go too successful that at least our hearts are in the right place and we are trying to be physically in the same place during the holidays.

I was so excited when I saw that Nick has a Belfast trip Dec14-16 since I can take off Dec 14. Niick was pretty excited too! And then... on my way home tonight I remembered that one of my closest friends here is having her farewell party Dec 14. There is no way I can miss it unless I want to lose her as a friend! Grrrr.. looks like I'll have to look at 2008 to join Nick on a trip...
Brian and I seem to be on opposite schedules like that too - whenever I want to go somewhere, he complains that all he does is travel and just wants to stay home... but then when I want to stay home, he's the one that wants to go do things! Oh well!!

You should try to convince Nick to go to Paris too... there are a TON of open seats on those flights next Friday. Right now there are 14 open seats in first class on the 777 flight!!!

Is that your friend that's moving to MD?

Has Nick bid for his vacation for next year yet? I guess that you guys will take whatever you can get for the wedding/honeymoon?

HI!!! Nick told me about Steve! And I am so happy you koined Jetgirls! If you haven't done so already, be sure to introduce yourself in the 'meet your Jetgirls family' section so we can all get to know you.

On another note, I've been bumped off of so many flights. Nick knows I kind of accept things and don't get too upset. Of course he was upset in June when I was bumped off of a GLA flight- he was going to propose to me then. I knew something was up since he was REALLY upset I couldn't get on the flight!

WELCOME!

Ha- Nick is off Dec 8-10 so that is definitely not enough time for him to 'relax' and enjoy a trip to Paris! I DO understand that he needs at least one day to relax before flying. Remember- Nick's flights are usually about 7 hours at night so they take a lot out of him (no sleeping for many, many hours, or at least not at the normal sleeping time!).

And no, My friend Robin is not an "aviation friend". I've know Robin since 2nd grade and a few years she lost her husband to cancer. She has been a great friend to me so it would be insulting if I don't go to her party. I kind of blew off another of her parties when I went to EDI with Nick so I can't do it again!

Nick tells Cpts he flies with about Jetgirls and how this site has been a big help to me, especially in the beginning of our relationship. I can't even bring myself to my read my first few posts. I knew so little, and now I feel very educated about the aviation lifestyle!

Side note- January 2008 I am going somewhere! No REALLY! Going! some! where!

Doug's starting to get that way too now....seems like we need to start creating "girls monthly 4-day weekend getaway" and just leave the guys at home if they want to stay home all the time...

To be honest, it irritates me because he wants to come home and stay home... i'm ready to go because i've been home... so i'll give him weeks of nothing but being at home and he'll still feel like he's never home because every month he has to travel somewhere (part of his job, not my fault)...whereas i get the same feeling if i'm at home for too long...sometimes, there just has to be compromise!

like this month... i had to bicker with him about the Frankfurt/HK trips... he stayed home all of october (besides driving to vegas) and november when he wasn't working...so why doesn't he ever feel like he's home then.. i don't get it.

Heck, I'd still like to do a 3 or 4 day Brussels turn to go back to the Brussels christmas market!! all you need is a 24 hr or 48 hr layover...Brussels is pretty small. Belgian beer, empanadas, vin chaud (hot red wine similar to Gluhwein) and french soaps are still calling my name! haha

I don't blame him for refusing to go on anymore trips with me this month because these two trips are almost like him not being home but for a week this month but still...he got october and november, i shouldn't have to feel guilty about taking december.
