| HI! We're here! And man, are we a mess... we don't know what we're doing, or where we're going. One thing I know we want to do tomorrow is Dim Sum... where is your favorite? |

| Have not been on this site for months. But happen to see your post. I live in the city of SF and this is the place I go for dim sum: Yank Sing - Traditional & Contemporary Deem Sum Since you have never been to the city before, I would say you typical tourist places recommended by others are great. But there is a guide called "Not for Tourist" if you want to check out: NFT - Not For Tourists - San Francisco - City Guidebooks, Maps, Urban Neighborhoods, Travel Have fun. Weather shall be good this weekend. It might rain Monday/Tuesday. If you like wine, take a drive to Napa or Sonoma. |

| Well, I can't thank you guys enough for all of your help. My family kept asking me, "Well? What should we do now?" and each time I would offer up each of your suggestions. They kept saying what great ideas I had, and I kept telling them that I couldn't take any credit for any of it... It was all YOU! We actually ended up staying at a Hilton, and they gave us the airline discount. Because of that, we stayed there the whole time. Hit up Chinatown, ate Dim Sum, bought some jade, went on the US National Park Service Alcatraz tour, drove over the GG bridge, ate at Scoma's (which... oh my dear God was amazing. I eat a lot of seafood, all over the place, and I've NEVER had bigger mussels in my life. Everyone's dinner was fabulous. You guys were so right.) Today we headed over to Oakland to go to the game. Those fans are mean jerks. Yes, we were in Colts-wear, but that was our only "crime." "F*** the Colts!" Must have heard that about 500 times today. No joke. The worst? Someone threw a RAW EGG at me on our way into the stadium. All I can say is, I'm glad we went to SFO first or else I don't think I'd ever want to come back! After the game, we headed over to In-N-Out Burger. It seems like EVERY West Coaster I've ever met has asked me, "Oh my God! Have you ever had In-N-Out??? It's the best! You just have to have it." So we finally did today. It was good... but reminded me a lot of Steak-n-Shake, if you've ever had that. NO offense meant to anyone on that! Just a similar taste I'm comparing it to. After the game, went back over to Union Square and bought tickets for the Cablecar/ Trolley (not sure what the proper name is.) I'm SO glad we did that. Yes, touristy, but it was SO fun! It was chilly tonight, but I was smiling through the entire ride. Definitely recommend it to anyone coming in for a visit. And, can I say, I am in LOVE with SFO! I could so move here tomorrow. You guys that live here are so lucky. I'm definitely going to have to make a trip back here, and soon! Thanks again, guys. This visit would have been no where near as great without all of your help. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Yay madlibs! I'm glad you had such a great trip! Yes, OAK and SF are worlds apart ... more than just a measly bay. Oakland has its nice areas (and SF its bad areas) but generally speaking, SF is more affluent and people a bit more kind. However, a Raiders game is probably the most extreme rudeness you'll see in OAK. Those folks take their football VERY seriously. Glad you loved Scoma's. It is sooooooooooooo good. Sounds like you hit up all the necessary/main attractions. I have yet to ride on one of the cable cars. :-/ |

| Jetgirls Member | Hey madlibs, that's great, it sounds like you had such a fantastic time in SFO! You've painted a really good picture of it for me now. I'm off to SFO tomorrow and I'm getting sooo excited! I've really been looking forward to this. This will also be my first time travelling with DH since he joined Cathay. After reading a couple of threads on this site, I'm now curious as to how the F/As will treat me... (DH's old job was cargo, no F/As to talk to). I'm not really hoping for too much on the touristic front, as most places will be closed or close very early (we will arrive late afternoon on 24th). I'm just so looking forward to feeling cold and Christmassy. Yes, you read that right! Last year I just didn't feel Christmas at all because HK isn't cold enough and just not that into Christmas. I'm used to very cold, white Christmasses in Scotland, with German markets in Edinburgh... So I'm looking forward to experiencing cold weather again and hopefully seeing a snowflake or two... (I know, I'm weird. I hate the sun and beaches too!!) |
