| Does anyone have experience traveling by train in Europe? We looked at return flights (Rome to Atlanta) and they are very full on our travel dates. So, we’re thinking of taking the train from Florence to Paris (YAY!), spending a day or two, and then flying home from CDG (flights look good). Any advice re: which train company? Overnight sleeping cars, etc? What to expect on pricing? Thanks! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | When I traveled to France last year, I used the eurail pass... it's for unlimited travel on the rail networks! They're pricey, but using them is cheaper [or about the same price] as buying a one-way ticket from Florence to Paris. Since there are two of you, you can use the "saver" option, where you get a really nice discount on the ticket. Eurail - France - Italy Pass My aunt uses their global pass every time she goes to Europe... they travel all over the place. I'm so jealous of her life! ![]() Unfortunately, I don't know how the sleeper cars work... I'm sure that there is information on their website that you can find. |

| That will be a piece of cake. Just show up at the train station in Florence- figure out which train station you want to go to in Paris- think there are two main ones- voila! You don't need to make reservations. You could buy the tickets a day early from the train station in Florence, but most people don't even do that. Have fun- it's a great plan! |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | yup.....you can buy it the day of, it probably wouldn't be oversold...I'd do an overnight train cuz i can imagine the day trains taking up a full travel day which would kinda stink. I've heard that it's good to get one that has a bunk with a bath inside...a little pricey, yea.. but safer... if you go the route of taking the train up, make sure you get a reservation so your seat/bunk is guaranteed. Best train to use is an ICE which is a high speed train like the TGV (very few stops)...look at Raileurope.com for times & costs. |
