| Admin/Owner ![]() | Looks like doug got a 48 hr layover there during a weekend and i'm gonna try to hop along. If you've been, gimme some of the gouge on what to do/see/EAT/DRINK!! ![]() Doug's going to Rome too on a weekend but i'm not too sure i'll tag along on that since i hear summertime is pretty darn hot/humid(?) and it's a 24 hr layover... but if ya'll think Rome is worth 24 hrs, then i would probably try to hop along on that too. He's going to Berlin but i can't hit that one cuz its during the week (he'll just have to bring me back some Berliner bier this time around!)

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | I'll try to get some info for you. One of my friends went over to Romania after college to teach English, then she met her husband and had 2 kids. She was there for about 8 years until she got divorced and came back to the USA. I'll send her an email to get some ideas for you. When would you be going?

| I work with an appraiser from Romania , he hasn't been to Bucharest since he was young, he said its a huge city ( obvouisly the capital) and that there should be plenty to do there. He's from the West side of Romania. My FIL was stationed there for a short while in the 80's and the stories he tells us about that country scares me to death. So glad I'm an American ! if you go take pics..I'm very interested |

| Definitely get a tour round Ceaucescu's palace if you can. It's quite astonishing - about 90% below the surface and just the most amazing insight into the workings of the communist mind! (That's not meant to be political, by the way!). Not sure if they still do tours (or even if it's still there...) but if it is, it's fascinating. Have a great time! Katherine |

| I love Rome. My DH did a 48 whirlwind tour of it and went to a wedding at the Vatican as well. I would go for 24 hours, but it is hot in the summer, although living in DC is not much better with the heat and humidity!

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Well, it looks like i'm going to be able to make the Bucharest trip this week...only problem, i have to get to NYC a day early, so i'll be taking the redeye flight tomorrow night.. staying in the airport till doug gets back to the states and then hitting up the Sunrise with him for the night/day wednesday. I know the Sunrise is on Long Island...is there anything we can do around that location and/or is there an easy way to get to downtown NYC? I've never been... so it'd be neat to be able to see some of the city while there. Also, Dana (Oppita), if you have any tips (considering your Romania trip didn't work out well), let me know....It'd be good to know what to expect...I don't even know a smidge of romanian (language) and i can't find any language books either which royally sucks.
