Default Traveling with the pilot

I'm not sure what thread it was, but by all means let the crew know you're onboard.

It's NOT a security issue at all, I really don't know how in the heck it would be.

A couple issues.

Issue #1:
If there's a hijacker onboard, whether or not he's holding you or some random back in 15C hostage, the response is going to be the same. Remember, this isn't the pre-9/11 world we live in now. The world of "Passenger 57" is Hollywood and we live in the world of "United 93".

Issue #2:
If the flight attendants know you're onboard, they'll take care of you, at least at my airline.

And if they won't well, that airline sucks and they need an attitude adjustment!

If you're non-revving and you're not onboard during the last few moments of boarding and my crew knows you're coming, they're going to let me know. That way if you're not onboard and the paperwork shows open seats, I can take care of business. Plus, if the overheads are full, they might ask about storing your bag with the crews instead of sending it down to the dark abyss of checked luggage.

Kristie had a lot of problems in Paris on the way out and if I played the "OMG! It's a secret that my woman's on the airplane!", she'd have gotten her ass left in a foreign country and I wouldn't have known until landing in the US because I had some strange aversion against anyone knowing my wife/girlfriend/whomever was coming along. I had 10 flight attendants and two language speakers that were going to make absolutely sure she got on the aircraft and that was handy as hell because I had my hands full on IOE and it was not a big deal -- especially because they know that I'd do it for them. Besides, all of the guys that I've flown with that brought their wife along for the layover have always been upfront about their spouse being on the aircraft.

If the man says, "It's a security issue!" or "it's a distraction!" that strikes me as a little weird.

Naturally, the above is solely my own opinion.

I couldn't find the original thread, so any toes I stepped on isn't personal and purely unintentional!

Go FLY ladies. It's the last benefit we have left. Non-revving is a negotiated benefit and part of the compensation package, it's not a guilty treat. If they're going to give "B Team" service to my wife because she's a non-rev, I'm going to have a talk with the flight attendant about how I don't revert to my "B Team" flying performance because their kids are non-revving on the jet.
