| Just got back Saturday from a quickie trip to Vegas, left Friday afternoon, got back Saturday evening around 8pm. Had such a fun time!! Just have to rave about this trip - I've had some great trips to Vegas but this trip topped them all...Wanted to let y'all know about this new hotel that's really really close to the Strip called The Platinum Hotel. WOW!! I LOVE this hotel, I don't think I want to stay anywhere else (well, maybe try Mandalay Bay)! By the way, PHX folks, if you don't have flight bennies, Vision Airlines has an amazing deal: $69 one-way trip to Vegas or back. The Platinum is an all suite hotel that doesn't have a casino and opened around 7 months ago. We stayed in the smallest suite, which was still 2 rooms + bathroom equalling 900+ feet; came with a really comfy king bed, 2 person jacuzzi, robes, flat screen tvs, and full kitchen w/ all necessities. The cool thing about this hotel is that every suite has a balcony and a jacuzzi and for a heck of a lot less than anywhere comparable... the larger suites have washer and dryers and a fireplace. I've stayed at the Flamingo, the Rio, TI, and have visited the Bellagio and Venetian and there is truly no comparison! The bang for the buck is unsurpassed: it's cheaper than any of those I mentioned And it's got absolutely gorgeous designing and decor - stainless/black kitchen, more earth tones everywhere else. Very nicely done!Staff is really helpful, elevators are kinda slow; looking on review boards, it seems a lot of people get upgraded to Strip views on higher stories for free (we did too). Resturaunt food was really really good, quite a lot of it, kind of expensive but hey, it's Vegas. And if you don't want to do that, you can always bring or go buy food and make your own meals. The outdoor portion of the pool was a little small but had a lot of chaise lounges and two person "mattresses" - we got out to the pool around noon and there were a lot of people but it wasn't hard to find a mattress and there were still plenty of chaise lounges. And the water wasn't crowded either. They also have poolside bar and menu service. And the spa.... oh wow!! Absolutely beautiful and so soothing - dark, great lighting, really nice staff. Once you change and are ready for your treatment but are waiting, you have your own little chaise lounge "room"; ok, it's only sheer curtains but you still feel seperated from the main waiting area. If you go with dh/so, oi... save your pennies and check out the Rejoice package... it's a scrub + mud + massage package for couples and it was a blast!! You get your own room; part of it is a massage therapy room, part of it is a shower and sauna area. We got to scrub each other with a coconut-kiwi salt scrub, then "paint" each other with different types/colors of mud, then hang out in the sauna and let the mud soak in... ahhhh (I know some guys are squemish when it comes to "spa-ing" but he just might be enticed by getting to smear mud all over you ) Then we showered off and I had the best massage I've ever had... and that's saying something! And you're in the same room and though I wasn't sure how it was going to be to have side-by-side massages, it was just really comforting and soothing to know he was next to me I was glad I surprised him with it; he really enjoyed it and I'm glad since he starts IOE tomorrow ![]() I'd also say though Vegas isn't really a family destination, if you can't leave the kids at home, this is probably the best hotel you can be at because of the lack of casino, the kitchen, the large rooms, and pool area. It's also within walking distance to the strip, it's closest to the Westin Casurina and Bally's.... which is really near everything else, so it's good placement. Had no trouble getting a taxi either. I personally had more fun hanging out at the hotel than walking around the Bellagio... though those fountains are AWESOME ![]() Just some thoughts! And no, the hotel isn't paying me for these props ![]() |
