San Luis Obispo?

Nick has a bunch of buddy passes for me to use, but let's just say the places I can travel to are limited. I want to try something new and was checking the Mesa flights to various locations. I saw that there are tons of flights from PHX to San Luis Obispo.

I believe there are wineries around there. Can anyone tell me about this city? Is it a good place for me to go to for a weekend? Any info would be appreciated! I need a vacation!

I know San Luis Obispo via a thriller John Saul wrote.. that won't help much...

Apparently, it's the location where Sideways was filmed at (so sayd Doug) and there are a lot of vineyards in the area.. Solvang is near there which is a neat little almost authentic swedish town..I think they'll have wine areas all over the place there - might be more Pinot than others.

I've gone online and did research already, but wanted a personal perspective from somebody here.

Yup- Just a Friday-Sunday. I checked and Friday day will be good, Friday night will be iffy. Saturday very early looks good too.

I can't do next weekend cuz i have my "annual" and a hair appt... can't miss the annual cuz it's been planned for 6 months...so you go without me next weekend or i can go with you one of the following 2 weekends....

Next weekend may not work out anyway- I checked hotels and most of the good ones (or ones I can afford) are booked. There must be something going on next week or something.
