| 20th or 21st of July???? I wish I could. I totally would go (DH and I need an excuse to visit more vinyards around here), but that's the weekend of our church retreat up in Tahoe. Vinyards to visit: don't really know any. Sorry. I'm pretty clueless. But they are ALL over the place. You can't drive 5 miles without running into signs for them.

| Have you considered going to Sonoma? I have not been because when I used to live in Lake Tahoe I decided to go and was told that many of the wineries in Napa charge for tastings whereas the wineries in Sonoma do not. I looked it up and found that many of my favorite wineries were actually in Sonoma--DeLoach, Kenwood, Ravenswood, Gundlach Bundschu, Valley of the Moon. But, if you go there give yourself a couple of days to tour the wineries--my friend dragged me to 13 wineries in one day and who knows how many wineries we toured. I was exhausted by the end of the day! Oh...we also ate at a great restaurant called Mistral-- I have no idea where it is, but it was excellent (the trip was in 2000). Here's a link: http://www.sonoma.com/wineries/ Hope the info helps! Felicia |

| DH and I visited Modavi winery several years ago. They give a WONDERFUL tour, very informative and well worth it, with wine tasting at the end with added horsdevors. I believe Mondavi has sold some of his company, but I would still check it out. It is one of the larger winerys out there, and their wines are some of the more balanced wines I have tried in Napa.

| Sonoma and Napa are VERY close (to each other and pretty close to SF too), so either one would work. Eric and I have been to Sonoma.

| Mustard's Grill in Yountville is nice. Of course, the quintessential is The French Laundry--but you need to reserve a table well in advance. http://www.mustardsgrill.com/main.htm Brix is fun for lunch. http://www.brix.com/restaurant/home.htm And the CIA restaurant is also wonderful: http://www.ciachef.edu/restaurants/wsgr/ The Farmhouse Inn in Forestville is very good. www.farmhouseinn.com In Sonoma, try the General's Daughter: http://www.thegeneralsdaughter.com/ My favorite winery (because I went to school with the owner): http://www.frogsleap.com/flash/intro.html |
