| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Hey Ladies - I'm back (again!) Hopefully I'll be able to start posting a bit more on here, but we'll see when i get settled into my new apartment if I'll be able to mooch some wireless (hopefully!!) So, I'm back from Utah, back from Italy and am currently in Michigan, moving out of my parent's place on Monday to Ypsilanti (near Ann Arbor/University of MIchigan) and I'll be back working at the hospital for the summer and fall until I head back to Utah again. Now for the trip report - Italy was awesome. I had a great time and a TON of adventures. I've put pictures up online at www.flickr.com/photos/theshrtone THe pictures there are sorted by city and there are some pictures from Utah as well. Of the places I went in italy, i have to say go to Cinque Terra - it's a series of 5 small towns on the mediteranean sea spaced out over about 12km (~8miles). It is incredibly senic and beautiful. There is a hiking footpath that runs between all 5 towns and it's quite an intense hike!! Most of the senic pictues I took were at the begining of the hike when it wasn't hard...but man it got crazy rough. If you decide ever to go, make sure you go in the middle of the week and book your room a head of time - it's getting more and more touristy, yet the hiking path is in pristine condition - no litter at all which was really kinda wierd considering the amount of people on it. another awesome sight to see is Mt. Vesuvius. I climbed to the top of that with some people from my hostel and it was incredible. it's the only active volcano in italy (maybe in europe?). It last erupted in the 1940s and it's still steaming/smoking from the heat. It was just amazing to see the crater and look inside of it. I've never been to the top of a volcano before, and aparently this crater isn't that big compared to others, but i thought it was huge! besides those two, i hit up rome, naples, capri, florence, viareggio, pisa, venice, milan, bologna, and amalfi. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | it was beautiful! simply breathtaking. the people there were really nice too! I stayed in a town called Atrani which is about a 5 min walk from Amalfi. I stayed there because that's where the only hostel was, but when I went into Amalfi it seemed that the town was getting "touristy" kwim? Atrani didn't really have a whole lot of variety in resteraunts or shops (unlike amalfi) but the places they had were "local" and very good |
