Default 3 more days until VACATION!

Only 3 more days until I am on vacation for a week in sunny Florida. I only hope it is sunny and it doesn't rain like it did the week we were in Hawaii in February! We are going to the Cape Canaveral/Melbourne area. DH's parents have a condo on the ocean in Cape Canaveral so we are staying there. We went to college in Melbourne so we are looking forward to visiting some friends. Brendan is flying until Sat. afternoon and if all goes well I will meet him in Cleveland and we will fly out on the 6pm flight to Orlando. If all does not go well, I will have to go to EWR and then take a flight to Orlando from there. The loads look iffy right now from MHT to CLE. I might have to start bright and early at 6am and then sit in Cleveland until he gets done at 4pm. I guess I'll bring a few books. I can't wait to sit on the beach and get a tan....and not worry about my 115 8th graders. It has been a rough week. One of my students is suspended for 20 days for bringing a BBgun to school. I would never have guessed, she is a good kid. But apparently she gave it to another kid and that kid shot it at recess (yes, we have recess....our new principal is a bit elementary). Needless to say both kids are suspended for at least 20 days. So I need a break....and then when we get back there is only 6.5 weeks left of school I can't wait for the summer!

How exciting! You could always fly into MLB, couldn't you? I've done that a few times trying to get back home to MCO.
I'm counting the days, more like weeks til we go to Santa Rosa, FL next month.
Ahhh, soak up the sun! Enjoy!

As of right now, the next shuttle launch is scheduled for July. Brendan and I might try to fly down for it.

I can definitely relate to that--only we only have 19 school days until summer. But, I teach Seniors who think the school year ended in January, so they will be 19 LOOOONNGG days. I hope you have fun and get some rest in Florida!

We have 20 days left. I've got the 8th graders, so theya re quite certain that shouldn't have to do anything else now. I get asked everyday if we are going to actually do work, and when the answer is yes they complain about the fact that they are done.

Made it out okay last Saturday. I was orginally supposed to meet DH in Cleveland and we were going to fly to Florida together Sat. night. I ended up not getting on the 1st Cleveland flight, it was booked solid. I was going to wait for the next one, but there were 3 seats and 3 other nonrevs with higher priority (which of course, didn't end up showing up!) so Brendan had me go to Newark. We figured I'd sit in Newark until at least 4pm but wouldn't you know I got on the very first flight (how, I don't know) and I ended up in Orlando at 11:30. Brendan was flying until 5pm and took the 6pm flight to Orlando. I sat in Orlando until 9:30.....of course he had the condo keys and the rental was in his name...but when you fly for free, I guess it doesn't matter as long as you get there!

The weather was sunny and hot every day. I think we had rain one afternoon but that was about it. We had a nice relaxing vacation.

The loads didn't look good this weekend so I was going to go home Friday. Orlando was booked solid to Newark and I couldn't get out of Cleveland either day. So instead of leaving early, we checked the flights out of West Palm Beach. So this morning (Sunday) we got up at 3am and Brendan drove me 2 hours south to PBI so I could get home. And lucky me, the oversold Manchester flight all of a sudden had 5 seats and I got right into Manchester by 1pm. We were convinced I was going to Boston and I was going to sit for a while waiting to get there. Lucky for me there were misconnects (and that Brendan was watching the loads on the MHT flight and changed my destination).

So I am home....I am tired, but I am home Brendan is coming home on Wednesday. He is supposed to be driving home with his dad (his dad keeps his BMW in Florida at their condo) but now his dad is thinking of waiting until Friday to drive home and will just drive with Brendan's mom. Of course, Brendan aranged his whole schedule this month for the purpose of driving home with his dad! Oh well.....he doesn't have to go back to work until Friday so he will stay for a few more days in Florida anyway.

Everytime we go to Florida, we debate moving back there. We both went to college there (Florida Institute of Technology) and we really love that part of Florida. But the only way we would live down there would be if we could live on the ocean and hear the waves. Of course, on his crappy salary that would be difficult. It would be doable but we would have to sell both the condo and lake house here. And I am just not sure if we could live year round in Florida. The summers there were so hot when we stayed for the summers! We'll see where we end up
