Default Checking out Sydney

Well, DH and I have been out in Sydney, AUS for about a week now. We got a Scuba certification and are starting to go mad with all the one-on-one time. We are probably hopping out to New Zealand for a few days before jumping back to the US next week. Sydney is a really pretty city, but it is hard to meet people. I think it is like going to NYC. No one wants to meet you, especially if you are visitor. My favorite thing is that financial modesty is the rule in Australia. If you have it, don't flaunt it!

We got the scuba certification over on Bondi Beach. An absolutely beautiful beach with some easy diving nearby. If the weather improves again (it has been 70F+ and sunny everyday, except today) we may go catch some surf waves at Bondi.

We are watching the Delta stuff with great interest and are hoping for the best (pilot) outcome. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for visiting in the Sydney area.

Cheers!

I don't have any recommendations but I will add that I'm terribly jealous of you being there...thats where my BF lives..and after 1.5 yrs of dating, I still haven't been there

Good to hear it gets the thumbs up though as with any luck it won't be long before I'm calling it home.

Sounds like so much fun! I just applied for my passport yesterday (I know.....I've been married to Brendan for almost 4 years and I have not traveled internationally yet! I had a problem with a name change when we got married and finally sorted it out). I can't wait to travel internationally. Enjoy your vacation! Hopefully you continue to have good weather. When Brendan and I went to Hawaii in February it rained everyday, all day....and I am not exagerating.

Default Moved onto New Zealand

We moved onto New Zealand for a few days. Aukland is a beautiful city and is very friendly. I wish we had skipped Sydney and done a longer NZ tour. I'm sick of big cities and am excited to get out of the city tomorrow for an overnight boat trip. We went to SkyTower today and the museum. At the museum we watch a group of Maori singers and dancers. They even dragged me and a few other women in the audience up for some dancing.

On a funny note: DH locked himself out of our room at the hostel at 4am last night. This wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't passed out from drinking. The poor guy pounded on the door for :45 mins and there was no waking me. Finally he got a key from reception after waking half of the hostel floor. All I recall is being yelled at in the middle of the night when he finally got back in. We've spent half of the day teasing each other over the incident.

Hope everyone has a great Easter.

That is completely hilarious. I'm sure it wasn't for him at the time, but it is a pretty funny situation.

I really want to go to NZ! I've heard such wonderful things about it from everyone who has been there, including my boyfriend. He absolutely loves the place and has these dreams of moving there someday. Enjoy your time in NZ!
