Basically, I won't be answering my doorbell tonight!

I wouldn't be excited about it either.

We haven't had trouble like that -- yet.
Right now it's all about the costumes and the candy.

Good luck tonight.

LOL! I hear you.
I was wondering do any of your states have a trick or treating curfew? We had never heard of a trick or treating curfew if you will, but when we lived in Wisconsin they published the acceptable trick or treating times in the newspaper. If I remember correctly I think the kiddos were only allowed to trick or treat from 5:00-9:00 pm. We have lived in 6 states, but only Wisconsin had a curfew. Just wondering??

Ohhh... I AGREE!! Unfortunately for the older rude kids, I teach 8th grade, and I just go ahead and remind them to use their manners!

My parents are coming over to help me. I am handing out bags of unpopped popcorn this year. I do NOT need the leftover candy, and my kids don't either.

I love Halloween. Last Sat. was "Super Saturday Halloween Blowout!" at our house. I took the kids to "Gene the Pumpkin Man" to select thier pumpkins, then to a grocery store that had cookie decorating for the day. Finally back to our house for a pumpkin carving party in our garage. We invited family and friends, played music, enjoyed donuts and cider. It was great fun. My kids are going to be the TeleTubbies. Emily decided who was which character and the baby is the sun. Thanks to my cousin Becky for making them all!

Angela,

Those pictures are so cute!

We get about 30 kids or so from what I figured out last year. We are giving out full size candy this year, Nestle Crunch, Snickers 3 Musketeers, M & Ms plain and peanut, 100 Grand, Butterfinger, Babe Ruth, and Skittles, Starburst for those that don't like chocolate. We used to give out the fun size (3-4 to a kid) but Costco had coupons for the boxes of big bars, so it probably worked out about the same price wise.

My son is going to be the monster thing from Scream. He never saw the movie, but his father took him to pick out his costume this year so that's what they came home with!

In our area they have set times for trick-or-treating, 6-8pm. I will give out the candy again this year. My husband will take him out for the first time in 2 years, so he is excited about that.

Hope everyone has fun!

The only shananigan's we ever had here was last year someone stole one of my pumpkins! I usually carve 4 pumpkins into different things, I think the one that was stolen was a witch on a broom. Oh well, I guess someone really liked it!

i agree with the comment about the older kiddos! they probably have more $$ than i do to buy candy!!
one year when we were living in VA in an apt., i had one kid (probably 10) who came to my front door, then to my porch door (a walk out), then proceeded to take off his mask (hold it under his arm) and come back to my front door!!! all within a matter of maybe 5 minutes! i finally turned him away and told him that i couldn't give him the whole bag! seriously...i might be blond...but i'm not oblivious
Stella (the 3 y/o) is going as Dorothy, Cora (the 6 month old) is going as the cowardly lion, husband is dressing up as the tin man and i get to be the lovely scarecrow. i mentioned this morning that it's funny that i'm the one with the greatest level of education and i'm going as the one without a brain...hmmm...i guess that means that he has the greatest heart (insert "ahhh"). ha ha. let's see if he can up the romantic-ness any time soon! i think he needs a class on that...whole 'nother story.

I grew up in MI and we trick-or-treated throughout our neighborhood from dark until about 9p or 10p (or until too many porch lights were out). We moved to OH when I was 13. They had this curfew you speak of. I thought it was lame. It was something like 5p-7p. It just felt strange being mandated and starting your trick-or-treating in the daylight. Another oddity is that unless Halloween falls on a Wednesday, they schedule trick-or-treating on the Wednesday nearest to the 31st. I'm not really sure about the logic behind that decision.

The neighborhood we are in doesn't really have any kids, so we go around the corner to where the in laws live and all the kids from school.
This yr our friends will have a golf cart again with an attached cart with hay for the kids to go all over the subdivision. There are way to many streets with houses pretty far from eachother. There is a house, where a plastic surgeon lives who goes all out. He even gives out full size soda cans and candy bars or popcorn. Who does that?
I'll be sitting pretty trying not to excite the baby from coming on this night.

They publish times in our local newspaper here in Illinois.
