DH comes home tomorrow and is off for 9 days. So, we're celebrating a late Christmas this weekend and going out to dinner on NYE.

That sounds nice! We celebrated our Christmas last night. I was wondering how it works for families with younger kids - the whole Santa thing? Does Santa just come on a different day?

I would love to, but it looks like I'll be picking up a shift and making a little $ for my bills.

DH and I will be celebrating our 11th Anniversary on NYE. Although I don't know how fun I will be since I have strep throat.

As for the Christmas with kids, last year DH was in DTW for Christmas, so we emailed Santa and told him our situation -that Daddy has to work on Christmas (yes Santa has gone hi-tech!) and what do you know, Santa responded. He let us know that since he had to make some early deliveries for other children of parents who worked in hospitals and whose parents were over seas for the military he could deliver our presents on Dec. 22nd. It worked out great. The kids woke up on "Christmas Morning" just like they would have done and we did the whole Christmas thing on a different day. We all learned something from our early Christmas, it really is just a date and heck the kids loved getting their gifts 3 whole days earlier than their friends.

It ain't easy continually making up new lies and answering the zillions of questions that come with the whole Santa issue! We had to have Christmas last Thursday morning. Then my girls thought Santa would come again Christmas morning! They are getting older (5&6) now and so things are starting to add up in their minds sooner than others because Santa has to come at such random times. We just tell them that Santa doesn't actually come because he is busy, but he sends one of his "helpers". That works for now until they start talking to other pilot's children who have been told other stories!

When I was growing up, my family was full of firemen, uncles, dads etc..so we had weird Christmas times too.
