Any secrets for lower fares Memorial Day weekend

Unfortunately DH has his biannual sim/checkride that weekend in Dallas....ugh!!! just got confirmed. so he arrives Fri afternoon, classes all day Sat & Sun should be out by 3pm. Maybe if I try flying Thurs to the following Tues am takeoff, it appears to be $50. cheaper on Delta. We want to get to see our 3yo granddaughter together (since Isabella LOVES ME & a little standoffish with DH . I joked to DH I have to come to break the ice besides watching a grown man cry;;;LOL!!!

Anyways, b4 I book, anyone have better ideas. I want to stay Delta bc of flight miles and have tp go AGS-ATL-DFW....and can always find a cheaper hotel for Thurs night and stay with him Fri and Sat nights, and move back to other hotel Sun and Mon nights. Id rather fly home late Monday to avoid another day to my house/farm sitter's duties, but that might not prove conducive....altho lightbulb just went on, I might be spending more money via housesitter, rental car, and another hotel night vs just leaving on Monday night instead of Tuesday.!

Fare buckets are usually set on Wednesdays--not sure of the timing. if you have a fare you can live with, don't wait. If not, see if fare changes (probably not) I think you still need 21 day advance for best price. Have a good time and rack up those skymiles! Good luck! PS--Check other routes, too.

You can try Priceline they have an option to name your own price you can put in the days you want to go and the price you want to pay it will tell you if it's accepted the only bad thing is that if it accepts it you don't get to pick your flights they just assign them to you and they tend to be really early

DH said not to chance it bc of the Holiday weekend, so today I booked Delta on Expedia with rental car...was the cheapest ad bought the insurance in case my FIL ends up back at the hospital in ICU. We also got the Renaissance in Dallas with SWA discount for our Sun night when he is done with sim. Will definitely try the name your price, Priceline next trip bc Ive never done that b4, and see what I get. (kinda like going to a psychic reader-HA!)
Doubt DH will want to go to Vegas for my birthday now EOM July so may have to put that trip on the back burner till Sept. Just booked the suites at the vets for 3 of our 6 dogs & made house sitting/horse sitting arrangements. Cant wait for Memorial Day Weekend!
